Universal Puts Disney's Reopening on Defensive

We re-upped our annual in April to avoid expiration and have yet to be charged anything. Waiting to see what the final hoops to jump through will be before investigating ways to possibly cancel the whole thing.

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

Blackouts are also spring break, presumably because of an uptick in crowds; blackouts are also during xmas new year, presumably because of an uptick in crowds; that’s why i always figured i was blacked out mid summer because of...an uptick in crowds.

What's Still On and What's Now Off

if this is how they are handling DS ( which admittedly has many 3rd party concerns), i see no reason they wouldn’t do the same in the parks.

What's Still On and What's Now Off

The only other thing i can think of in my ever-increasing consternation is - I don't think WDW wants you eating in the parks any time soon. A sit down restaurant with a reservation perhaps, but snacking and strolling, the raison d'etre of F&W, is a face-covering no-go and I am betting Disney...

What's Still On and What's Now Off

With lower capacity crowds and socially distanced queues, what would prevent F&W from going on as usual? Perhaps more outdoor dining sections (and/or trash cans).

    Disney Parks Advanced Reservations (Speculation)

https://www.wdwmagic.com/other/annual-pass/news/29may2020-disney-advises-annual-passholders-that-it-may-be-difficult-to-get-reservations-to-visit.htm So, according to this - i'll pay for an annual pass even though I might never be able to get in due to capacity; blackouts still apply, but...

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

Only 8 people will be allowed in at a time - luckily the queue a mile above the earth is just long enough to socially distance. ;)

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

I thought social distancing was about folks who are in one place being 6 feet from another stationary person. No one can avoid walking past other people in any situation. (although they may divide main street in half to keep traffic flowing in opposite directions) Social distancing is for queues...

News Eliminating Fastpass and Extra Magic Hours - confirmed as of May 28

I guess I need a better explanation of how the main reservation system works before figuring out smaller reservations (aka virtual queues or fastpasses). Do you pick a park and a day - meaning you have access the entire time that park is open? Or do you have to choose the hours you will be there...

Universal Puts Disney's Reopening on Defensive

makes sense. i remember life before misters (in themeparks, fans in queues too), but i have to admit i have grown to appreciate them.

Universal Puts Disney's Reopening on Defensive

Back to Universal's opening - their FAQs mention turning off "water effects" like misting. Is this really a virus-spreader (assuming it's recycled water). Do misters for cooling down folks in queues operate the same way? If Disney follows suit, the atmosphere will be even more uncomfortable in...

It comes down to capacity. Too many folks, not enough tables. I can count on one hand the number of times i’ve been able to sit and have a snack. It usually involved rain.
