Disney's Next Acquisition Speculation / Discussion

With everything going on, I think Disney’s focus will be on getting everything shut-down back on-line. I could see them trying to buy one of the cruise ship companies out of bankruptcy, before they would get into a historically thin margin business. There may be anti-trust issues with the...

Rumor Is Apple about to make the happiest acquisition on earth?

It would solve alot of problems for both companies, but would probably create an exponential number of new problems. I think there would be both governmental (regulatory and political) and customer resistance to such a combination. I just don't see it as very likely. I think both companies...

News Chapek FIRED, Iger New CEO

Maybe.... But when the factories come back on line, there is overtime to meet the unmet demand. And if people don’t travel, they will do something different with their time and money.... News Chapek FIRED, Iger New CEO

The market (Rightly so) is betting on an inventory recession... Inventories have been drying up based on the fact that China has been closed for 2 months. It is going to take more than 2 months to build those inventories back to the level of demand. We are likely to see prices rise for many...

News Chapek FIRED, Iger New CEO

I agree.... Lets think forward 15 years (theoretically) when Chapek retires and names his replacement. What will be the transformational decisions he has made and successfully executed like Iger? Iger knew he was going to have to figure out how to acquire Pixar, and the relationship with Jobs...

News Chapek FIRED, Iger New CEO

I just listened to the analyst call.... I think the timing of this announcement is related to the Coronoviris and the time the outbreak was going to take away from Iger and what he really wants to do.... Chapek is the guy to manage the efforts around mitigating the impact of the virus. Iger is...

News Chapek FIRED, Iger New CEO

It is the gravitas of the role.... Disney, Eisner, Iger all made huge long term transformational changes to the company, and have the customer and story as the driver of all decisions (Not $$$ first)... I know some will disagree with me, but my issue with Bob Chapek is he is a bean counter...

The Integration of Fox into the Disney Corporate Family: Parks, Movies, IPs, Studios

I also think the company is struggling to decide on investing in the parks vs in Wireless and Network Upgrades, and paying down debt. We'll see when the 8K comes out in a month or two!

Disney's Next Acquisition Speculation / Discussion

Never going to happen. They value the franchise so much differently than block-buster big tent movies. Consumer Products by it self is a reason to retain the asset.

The Integration of Fox into the Disney Corporate Family: Parks, Movies, IPs, Studios

I believe Disney had offered Fox the ability to retain these assets, when the DOJ required Disney to divest the RSN's. The astronomical drop in value of the RSN's and the slow death of the cable bundle, made Fox decline the opportunity to retain these assets. The economics of the Mexico sports...

The Integration of Fox into the Disney Corporate Family: Parks, Movies, IPs, Studios

I think they passed, because they didn't see a profit in it. Remember, you have to pay the commercial value of the asset, and then agree not to increase rates, and insure everyone can still have access to the sports content. Not sure how you accomplish this unless you already have network...
