Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

The "artist's renderings" in that article look AI generated. Does AI count as an artist?

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

I remember once reading Stephen Jay Gould writing that up to some point you couldn't get tenure in a geology department if you believed continental drift theory was correct and then a few years later you coudn't get tenure if you didn't believe it was correct.

New Enhancements, Dining Options Coming to Disney’s BoardWalk

You could argue that they need a nice place to have lunch on the Boardwalk ... but I'm not sure what the demand will be even if the prices were more reasonable. I ate lunch at the ESPN Club either two or three years ago at the Christmas season (long story as to how I ended up there) and the wait...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I just recently reupped for Touring Plans and I did notice this fine print: "Full refund given if Len's posts on WDWMagic are ever criticized."

Rumor D23 2024 WDW Rumors, Predictions & Discussion

The survival of the Speedway continues to amaze me. Seems like an awful lot of space devoted to a very weak ride. I guess maybe it has its fans among families with pre-teens.

News from the New York Times today: "Is a Disney Theme Park Vacation Still Worth the Price?"

OT but did you ever hear back from the WSJ about the column they ran by the guy who claimed a CM asked him to tip the CM playing Mickey at the Four Seasons character breakfast? I knew when I read that article that the guy was describing something that was very, very unlikely to have happened...

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

Heat and humidity? We finally stopped going during summer five or six years ago because of that.

Still love the ambience, though! :)

News Disney Files Frontier Trading Post Construction Permit

Interesting idea although it doesn't square with the rumors for what's being planned for beyond Big Thunder.

News Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Permanently Closed Fall 2023

Good point, although I'll venture the guess that the fall off in bookings despite what appear to have been very strong internal and external reviews might have led them to conclude that good word of mouth wouldn't be enough to save them.

News Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Permanently Closed Fall 2023

My reaction, as well. Looks like a classic case of a flawed design that is recognized as a flawed design but that gets too far down the line for pulling the plug or engaging in a redo to be politically possible.

News Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Permanently Closed Fall 2023

It's pretty much throughout her video. Near the end (maybe 20 mins from the end?) she talks for a few minutes about what she sees as the lack of integrity of people who get comped and never give a review that isn't entirely laudatory. Her points seemed well taken to me, but then hers was the...

Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort closing for maintenance in January 2025

May not mean much, but when were staying at the BC last December shortly before Christmas, it was crowded. The couple of times I walked through the YC lobby, it seemed pretty dead.

Big River Grille and Brewing Works to close at Walt Disney World

I agree. Went there several times before giving up on it.

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

Good points but Disney is more expensive and visits require more complex planning than ever before. Maybe most people will shrug it off and keep going--our family will!--but it's not yet clear what the long-run result will be.

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

I think you're right. I don't think we've yet seen the equilibrium that will result from the increased prices and increased complexity of a visit. Maybe the equilibrium will look like 2019, but it's entirely possible that attendance will ratchet down permanently. Another point not often brought...

New Enhancements, Dining Options Coming to Disney’s BoardWalk

Maybe split the difference since art deco was more 1920s than 1940s.
