News Refurbishment coming soon to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort - Moana details to be included

Ya know what would've been cool. If they had to stick with the concrete pillars so badly - why not integrate fiber optics tiki designs like this INTO the concrete and then light it up at night. Like they had on the walkways at Epcot before they ripped it out...

News Refurbishment coming soon to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort - Moana details to be included

Yawn. The drawings make the pillars look like carved wooden tiki beams. This looks like street graffiti on a city street corner.

    Major Grand Floridian Refurbishment

I liked Mizner's for what it was with its "intimate" and small space (like a hideaway/speakeasy of sorts) but, on the downside, it was too small and I agree that the theming was unremarkable. That said, the new layout is just tacky... actually it reminds me of our local hospital entrance now...

    Connections Cafe and Eatery

I mean... "We put some Epcot designs in the floor to commemorate Epcot" is about the same amount of effort it takes to put a Mickey Mouse head on the floor. (Except they don't DO the latter anymore because they need IP!) And now the site that shant be named is claiming rumor says they're going...

News Tomorrowland Speedway and Walt Disney World Railroad to be impacted by TRON construction at the Magic Kingdom

Steam exhaust issues aside... it'd be neat with all the construction changes over there that they could've run the train THROUGH the Tron ride in some way (similar to how the people mover goes through Space Mountain) - maybe even through Space Mountain too! That's make for some interesting...

News Contemporary Refurbishment--April to Sept 2021

I'm kind of torn on the desks. I think they're going for a late 60s aesthetic where everything was curves and rounded but the new desks don't really match that retro-style so it's kind of a fail for me there. OTOH they're kinda cool looking but I think the original desk (before the retheme)...

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

I don't think it's so much a reservation issue as it is a capacity issue. Trader Sams barely holds 100 people at a time. If anything they should move it to the old restaurant (and unused) space by the DVC buildings now. OR - redo the Luau AS a Trader Sams with outdoor patio seating that...

Are you kidding?! That's a pure revenue source now!

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

I don't think Disney realizes they're purely running on tourist inertia now or maybe their math shows they are and their solutions is shifting to DVC' so they can "trap" tourists. I've only been going for about 10 years and *I* can tell the deterioration in service and offerings and the...

But... it's just a short walk to the TTC! ;) Actually I'm kind of surprised they didn't expand into the TTC area.

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

This. "Polynesian" culture was never so much "Polynesian culture" as it was the Californian Surfing hysteria that was all over during the 60s and early 70s (see Brady Bunch) the tiki aspect came out of the same drinking/party culture and that's why it's all Kitsch. That the imagineers don't A>...

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

They're going for the cheap low hanging fruit here. It seems to me they could've done a "pacific" style resort over by Fort Wilderness or even the Asian themed one (yay China) with far more capacity and DVC rooms. But that would've required real risk in capital outlay (and probably why the...

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

How about the fact that you're promoting a fantasy vision and not the real thing? But then I guess it's too difficult for tik tok'rs these days to distinguish between fantasy and reality.

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

Bleh. Not themed - more DVC. If you're going to do that much destruction to the resort just rebuild the GCH with the rooms inside of it and restore the internal water features plus more room for dining and lounges.
