I don't "think" Iger planned it this way per se. I do think Iger wanted out as covid hit so he could leave at the top as an inevitable downturn was occurring. BUT - Iger DID handpick Chapek AND Iger was (and is) on the board AND Iger maintained creative control up until this last year. So...

The lobby/common areas ARE tastefully done and have been relatively the same for the 30 years of the resort (minus removing the orchestra and the Enchanted Rose bar). It's the lobby that's getting the refurb to "be more modern"

The rooms at the GF are fine (if not a bit sterile/unthemed which is odd given that they went in completely the opposite direction for the Poly and Contemporary refurbs) - but the other updates have, frankly, sucked. They destroyed the orchestra to put in this oddly out of place bar and now...

At this point you don't need to guess - we have lots and lots of disappointing examples.

I'm not expecting anything good to come of this. I thought the Contemporary's Lobby redo was OK but the room remodels were terrible. I still loathe all the rework done on the Polynesian Lobby and entrance but that's a story for another day. If all they do is change the carpet I'd be fine - but...

Actually I think this is a great idea as these "video" style rides lend themselves to this sort of thing. Just wish I had been able to ride the original concept when I was there! :P

Yuck. I'm happy with them celebrating Avatar but... do it in Avatar land and with new content on Flight of Passage or with a new ride. Put it on the monorails or the buses or on signs in Pandora - But don't turn what's supposed to be a positive natural/environmental/eco message into a movie...

And still waiting for Iger to make parking free at the resorts again... or get rid of the park reservation system... or restore capacity to the parks... or bring back DME... or restore Park Hopping... Y'know all of those things evil Bob Chapek instigated that made Iger have to come back.
