News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

Right - CONTENT-wise with just ESPN and the Disney/Pixar/Fox/Marvel library I don't think Apple has a monopoly issue. It's when you link in ABC broadcasting AND Hulu AND Disney+ AND the theme parks that you're reducing competition in the field overall. Although this already happened to a...

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

So Apple gives Disney a buncha cash. Iger uses that to payoff Universal and buyout Hulu. Iger then shutters Hulu and Disney+ and licenses the entire catalog to AppleTV (maybe not the entire catalog but a good chunk of it) for more cash infusion. That recenters Disney as a content creator along...

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

Really - I don't think the FTC would allow Apple to purchase Disney - not without some significant divestures first. ESPN - maybe even shutting down Disney+ and Hulu and absorbing them into AppleTV...

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

Just enough time to sell to Apple. He's not there long enough to right the ship and with the writers strike ongoing they probably won't get any productions started up until 2024 at the earliest.

News Disney Floral & Gifts to Transition Operations to a Third-Party Vendor

I’m sure you’ll get a better bang for your buck flower-wise - but Disneys floral group had custom Disney merchandise and decorations and I’m not sure those will follow?

Refurbishment coming to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort lobby

I suspect the acoustics would still suck there, though. (Although a larger refurb could do something about that… tiles on the ceiling, etc) I never realized there were actual birds in the aviary at one time!

News Disney Floral & Gifts to Transition Operations to a Third-Party Vendor

Wow - though it was exhorbitant I did a couple of room celebrations from these guys that made the whole trips very memorable. I wonder if the in-room celebrations will still be offered? It’s all very odd… it’s like they’re axing every part of the business structure that gave them their...

News Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Permanently Closed Fall 2023

I could see them extending the shutdown another month into October to try to milk as much revenue as they can. I doubt they'd extend it beyond Halloween though as I'm pretty sure you couldn't fill up all the 'cruises' into the holiday season.

News Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Permanently Closed Fall 2023

There's $3000/night and then there's $900-$1000/night. For the experience of being on a "star cruiser" many more people will pay, and more importantly find a way to pay $1000/night than $3000/night which is just completely impossible for 90% of the population!

News Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Permanently Closed Fall 2023

Told ya! The concept can still work but the price point/value is not there. What they could easily do is throw a few more $$$ at the building, add more dining and an enclosed pool (either full indoor or "outdoor" with a facade roof to give the feeling that you're still on a starcruiser) and...

News Walt Disney World to resume sales of Annual Passes (New sales resume April 20, 2023)

$1400?! And you STILL aren't guaranteed park access because you have to make a reservation?! Do these even grant you park hopping privileges?

News Narcoossee's at Disney's Grand Floridian closing for extended refurbishment June 2022

Probably because they got them cheap from all the shuttered BBB stores?

News Narcoossee's at Disney's Grand Floridian closing for extended refurbishment June 2022

Hey pal, those sandpaper towels take off the dead skin cells when drying so that's a win for standards! (Frankly I miss the greeters)

News Narcoossee's at Disney's Grand Floridian closing for extended refurbishment June 2022

I have to agree. I haven't had the chance to eat here and was about to state that I actually like these upgrades for once (although the original seems to have had a certain charm) but seeing that there were painted murals on the ceiling now replaced with non descript planks is, once again and...

News Sosa Family Cigar Co. to permanently close at Disney Springs

Don't count your chickens - drinking was banned at the parks at one time, too and, as we all know, pot smoking is HeAlThY.

News Sosa Family Cigar Co. to permanently close at Disney Springs

That was the norm back then. Social etiquette suggested one for every 1-2 people. My grandparents would hold bridge club meets at their house once a month for about 20+ people and would, literally have 20 ashtrays out. This was in the 70s and my grandparents had quit in the 60s. The...

News Sosa Family Cigar Co. to permanently close at Disney Springs

But you can't smoke them in the room or on the balcony? And frankly I'd prefer the cigar smoke to all the pot and pot vaping all over the strip at Vegas. Wondering if we'll ever see that trend in Disney's parks
