News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

SW:GE is a worthwhile addition and will be just fine moving forward, but don't you think Iger and Chapek expected and planned for a more frenzied response than this? Certainly notable, no?

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

I, for one, am happy to see these openings underperform if it means it's the tipping point that forces TWDC to alter their overall approach towards "Disney Parks, Experiences and Products" and WDW, in particular.

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

In the long term, SW:GE will undoubtedly be "successful." However, it's clear the openings of both lands have just as undoubtedly come in well below expectations and, therefore, unsuccessful.

The brutal truth of where EPCOT is headed...

I don’t think we know where in the ride Moana will take residence, but, as Chapek says, “more Disney.” 🤦‍♂️

Bob Iger: "We Don't Believe We Have A Pricing Issue At Our Domestic Parks"

I've been going to Walt Disney World since childhood. I'm a lifer. I've been fortunate enough to bring my own family now. I feel loyalty to the brand. But cracks have been forming. A few years ago, we stayed longer in the resorts and spent more days in the parks. Lately, we've been doing...

Fountain & Bottled Drink, Popcorn, Pretzel, and Other Snack Item Prices Exponentially

Their long-term response to said stagnation is to invest in the parks at a higher level than the previous decade. Only time will tell if that's the solution, but I bet the marginal attendance bump from Pandora and TSL is making them nervous.

Fountain & Bottled Drink, Popcorn, Pretzel, and Other Snack Item Prices Exponentially

I can guarantee they aren't actually shooting for lower volume. That's just corporate PR spin for the attempted quarter-to-quarter band-aid of an attendence growth stagnation over the past couple years, IMO.

Seasonal Multi-Day Ticket Pricing Coming Soon

Here here... But, if used correctly, non-expiration passes eventually turned into a value to the guests and you know that can't be tolerated.

News Park attendance showing significant softness heading into the Fall 2018

Very well said and oh so true... Little things matter. The feeling that you are receiving a value, however small, whether real or imagined, matters. And upfront pricing, simplicity and ease of use are universally appealing.

News Park attendance showing significant softness heading into the Fall 2018

As have I... It's easy to jump to conclusions and maybe I'm projecting what I hope is occurring; but, anecdotally, I know quite a few people that are true Disney fans who used to go to WDW regularly but no longer do. And, personally, for the first time ever, we slashed the time we spent on...

News Park attendance showing significant softness heading into the Fall 2018

They may have finally battered us loyal guests enough to the point where attendance takes an uncomfortable dip whenever there aren't hordes of casual vacationers trampling the place.

Seasonal Multi-Day Ticket Pricing Coming Soon

This is basically a way to force more people into the higher priced premium, park hopper tickets.

    Unpopular WDW Opinions

Storybook Circus is underrated... Great little alcove at night Space Mountain is overrated and skippable Imagineering actually did a tasteful job of inserting Frozen into the Norway pavilion

    Hollywood Studios - major issues.

Love Muppet Vision, but I have to admit, it's pretty funny that the tourists featured at the very end of the film are so outdated that those late 80s-early 90s styles they're sporting are actually back in.

News Park attendance showing significant softness heading into the Fall 2018

Also, side note personal observation... One could argue that the park that has been managed with a longer-term view than most of the resort is DAK, and it's interesting to watch that park, which has the fewest out-of-place Disney IP associations by far (UP! A Great Bird Adventure...

News Park attendance showing significant softness heading into the Fall 2018

By all accounts, they are expecting a massive boost from SW:GE, it will be very interesting to pay attention to whether it meets the seemingly huge expectations.

News Park attendance showing significant softness heading into the Fall 2018

Welp... FWIW, I guess I voted with my wallet in 2018. Our annual/semi-annual summer trip was a split-stay for the first time this year. We spent a few days on the Gulf coast, shortened our time on grounds, made fewer ADRs and spent fewer days in the parks.
