As a shareholder, you're one of the only things the weatherman actually cares about.

News PhotoPass at some character locations being replaced by automated cameras

While I agree these are first world problems we're talking about here, the fact remains that it's providing a worse product. And we're paying a premium for it. And they're not about to pass along the cost savings to the consumer.

Can you say regime change? Holy crap, is this charge more for less MO getting unbearable.

Has Disney Pricing Increases/Atmosphere Cuts Altered YOUR FAMILIES WDW Attendance?

Unequivocally, yes. What once were annual week-long stays on property with 4-5 day hoppers are now 3-4 night stays with standard 2-day tickets. And you know what? Life goes on if you don't get to every park, every year. In fact, it helps to keep things fresh. The risk Disney runs by forcing...

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

I’m certain it’s coming. How else would they keep these IP “brands” relevant?

This. It used to be, when they used an IP on a significant upgrade, it was an IP that was already proven to be classic/timeless. They've gotten away from that and, thus, the IP's reception may be hit and miss and/or not age well. Case in point... Zootopia. An enjoyable and cute movie, but...

This is exactly right. And you don’t need to be an insider to know this. It’s common sense. They put these systems in place because they expected to have to use them, not in hopes that they wouldn’t.

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

They didn't expand the HS parking lots and entrance plaza as well as try to time Gran Destino and the gondolas with SW:GE for the worst case scenario, IMO.

Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

SW:GE will not fail, but opening day was not the zoo (for any number of legitimate reasons) that the world expected it to be. They implemented a reservation system. They didn't intend for that to deter guests from coming altogether and I'd guess they didn't expect to have to drop it for WDW...

Okay, but that would mean their reasonable determinations may have been incorrect.

I mean, maybe? To me, it doesn't feel like any of that (besides, ya know, a hurricane lol) could move the needle for something as highly anticipated as SW:GE. It will be interesting to follow post-hurricane though.

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

C'mon... This is the modern TWDC we're talking about. You truly believe they implemented these tools "just in case?" And that's not even speaking of the infrastructure improvements they've made in anticipation of atypically large crowds.

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

Right... They thought, "build it and they will come," regardless of circumstance. They thought wrong.

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

Well, for one, they built and implemented fairly extensive crowd control tools that haven't gotten much use yet.

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

At the risk of sounding like a broken drum, the fact that can't be twisted is that they expected and planned for more. And that's just about all you need to know. Now, whether the droves arrive post-hurricane or when ROTR opens is yet to be seen and worthy of discussion.

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

So you're saying they made an error in when they planned for it to open? Also, SW:GE in Disneyland opened May 31st. That feels like a pretty accessible date, no?

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

We must not be reading the same forum. I'm not reading many people calling it a bust. I'm reading discussions on how the opening days of this land are not meeting expectations and potential reasons why.

They certainly expected more. It's not driving resort-wide growth yet. And it's only a 95 minute wait early on day 2, without virtual queuing.

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

Agreed... Most people that were going to be at WDW for the opening of SW:GE were already there. Not enough people are catching early flights home to move the needle on this.

That tide receded almost as fast as it came in. Underperforming company projections/public expectations on their bellcow project = relatively poor opening day(s)
