Unless I’m mistaken, the difference in height is mainly with the rock work right? It’s surprisingly hard being able to find detailed comparisons between the two (outside of the obvious differences in colour).

Well it originally had a slightly blue tint to it when the park opened, no? I was always under the impression the castle largely remained the same colour until 2006. Adding a slight quartz-style glisten to the main body of the castle would’ve been beautiful.

I never liked the slightly tan colour we’ve had since 2006 so this would’ve been perfect.

I’m still hoping the spires are darkened and that the pink is lightened (the concept art implies the main body will have a sheen to it), but you’d think if they were going to we would’ve started to see it by now.

They have done, at least with the lower portion. You can see a slight blue tint to it, so I assume the rest will be similar.

The concept art sort of implies it’ll be somewhat shiny, so it could very well be. We’ll have to wait and see I guess!

It certainly doesn’t look great at the moment, but it’s not finished. I assume there’s an extra coat of paint on top of the pink to make it shinier/paler (based on the concept art), so we’ll have to wait and see. As for the stage I unfortunately don’t see that going, which is a shame since...

As a Brit I feel somewhat strange saying this, but right now I'd probably opt for the UK pavilion. I miss being in a good pub with decent food, so it would somewhat tick that box for me.

Mess was a bit of an exaggeration, yes, but I still think the park in general is a tad soulless. As you said though it probably fits with what the Chinese expect, so some of the design decisions are probably attributed to that.

With no disrespect this is an incredibly ignorant thing to say. Both COVID-19 and the common cold are coronaviruses but they behave differently. This isn't some conspiracy even if many here oddly believe that to be the case.

I like it! I've never been a fan of the post-2006 colour scheme so it's nice to see something different.
