who buys at rack rate at deluxe hotels?

Vacation dates are often immobile for us. Getting everyone together with job time off, (mostly) grown kids, etc, and you end up with a narrow window. Unless we are lucky we often pay.

    Pre-Trip Run, Chickie! RUN!!!

Congratulations on your weight loss. I too was headed the way you were and had just come back from a "this hurts too much WDW trip" and said enough's enough. Lost 234lbs and am a normal weight for the first time in over 25 years.

For the foodies out there - what are the best restaurants in WDW?

I live in the greater NYC area and I've not tried anything in WDW that would come close to what's available in Brooklyn or the Village from a food standpoint. I did find experiences where the food was good, the presentation was wonderful and the overall theme of the restaurant made the...

Is there a "typical or average" WDW visitor/family?

A lot of it depends on where you live and what nearby vacation options are available to you. When you look at the Northeast US, your nearby vacation options are (in Summer only) NYC, Cape Cod, Jersey Shore, Maine Shore for example. When you look at a week's vacation in those areas, you're...

Are the feelings for the Yeti unreasonable?

It's a fail. Look at it as that. Something that was built and promoted and it doesn't work. Taking into account the whole experience on the ride it isn't much, but it's still a fail. Accepting this means we are opening up the door to accepting all sorts of substandard things in the future...

Husband and I are taking Disney Trip, March 2020 w/ Daughters but kind of separate? Need advice and experience stories

As others have indicated, schedule your table service meals together. Meet there and continue your evening together and leave the daytime free. Fastpasses are harder to schedule in this way, but not impossible either. They may want to go later than you some nights, likewise, you will probably...

    Disney alone with 2 kids

I would say a lot depends on the 7 year old and the 4 year old. Will the 4 year old be willing to go on everything that his height would allow? If so, this will go well, or reasonably well. If not, then the 7 year old will not be very happy. You all will have to go on everything. On most...

Smoking areas GONE starting may 1st Pinned so people can still see the announcement.

Yes, and I guess that's the thing. No one wants to ruin someone else's experience. The problem is when smoking areas get so restricted, people feel it's their sacred right to use them no matter who complains. These kind of things should be mapped out carefully.

    Dining Dilemma

On a day like that, you do typically want to take a resort break. There are quiet and shady areas of Animal Kingdom however. Consider this though, how about taking a break at Animal Kingdom Lodge? I know it's not the same as going back to your room, changing and kicking off your shoes, but...

Smoking areas GONE starting may 1st Pinned so people can still see the announcement.

Like all things there is a balance between accommodating all people and being very restrictive. I think the main problem with a lot of the smoking areas were they were ill-conceived and the product of another era. The Magic Kingdom ones were in very high traffic areas. They should have...

Does Disney force high-profile guests/celebrities to use guides when they come to the parks?

I've seen some celebrities with guides and others without. I think the OP is probably right in assuming that Disney wants to keep traffic flows moving by having a guide. They can always pop the celeb in an area others aren't allowed to go, something a celeb alone cannot do. To me, that seems...

News New Stroller Size/Wagon Rules and Enforcement - Effective May 1 2019

I think the other thing WDW is concerned about is the terrain. While they accommodate people with ramps, etc, if you've got one of these massive Cadillac strollers loaded up with kids and supplies, someone may get into a bit of trouble going down or uphill with them and put themselves, their...

First Trip to Wilderness Lodge! Tips Appreciated!!

Leave some time to explore the property. The little corner and front lounges are really nice spots. Outdoors, look at the bunnies and other wildlife that roam. It's such a beautiful resort.

News Mizner's Lounge to be expanded at Disney's Grand Floridan Resort into a Beauty and the Beast inspired lounge

I imagine they are looking at where the popular restaurants are with people waiting (means they can't spend money) for their ADRs and pumping up drinks and snacks nearby for purchase. Yes, also enabling the monorail crawl a bit more (or the deluxe boat crawl as my wife and I love to do)

News Mizner's Lounge to be expanded at Disney's Grand Floridan Resort into a Beauty and the Beast inspired lounge

I just hope this secret doesn't suddenly become an overcrowded mess. I like getting an Old Fashioned and relaxing a bit in the afternoon while the family is getting in their siesta/pool time.

    Coronado Springs bus lines

You can have a good day or bad day catching buses at any of the resorts. On a short stay, a week or less, a few of those experiences will stay imprinted in your memory. That said, I found Coronado to be no worse or better for buses than any other resort. It should be and mostly is a...

Nor I but it would reasonably accommodate one of those double strollers with one kind in the back and the other in the front.
