    Universal vs. Disney

Jumping in very late, but we skipped WDW this summer for the 1st time in more than a decade. We're skipping it again next summer. The reason - It's too stressful. The MK is my favorite place on earth, but the whole doing Disney thing - Until this mess with FP gets fixed (if it ever does), we're...

Just back from 10 nights at the Hard Rock....

No, the new DVC units are going to be separate units along the beach, sort of like the new Poly Bungalows, but not in the water.

    Have universal surpassed Disney ?

Universal is a bit over the map with ride maintenance and show. On the one hand, you've got the HP attractions, which are crystal clean. Spider-Man and Men in Black as well. Then you've got Dr Doom and Rip Saw Falls which are blatantly both filthy and in an almost laughable need of a simple...

Just back from 10 nights at the Hard Rock....

Part of WL has been DVC for years. They're just adding more units down by the beach area.

Just back from 10 nights at the Hard Rock....

If you have Express, it CAN be done. I don't recommend it, as you're bound to miss many of the details. Islands is better if you like thrill rides. Universal, in my opinion, is the better overall park, theme wise. Diagon Alley is amazing. Springfield is an absolute riot. It really is everything...

Just back from 10 nights at the Hard Rock....

And you know what, we were less ready to come back than when we spend just as much time at Disney. I love both, I really do. But honestly, this was one of the best vacations ever. No waiting around for buses. No standing in ridiculous long lines. Just walking right into whatever restaurant we...

Starbucks among other new vendors at Disney

If they did, I never noticed it, and I would bet good money (not proudly) that I've eaten more of the cinnamon rolls from the Main Street Bakery than anyone else on this thread. I don't blame Starbucks. I blame Disney for being cheap. And for the record, the ones at Gaston's aren't the same...

    Homer Donut...

I don't remember seeing anyplace at City Walk, but Emack & Bolio's at the Hard Rock Hotel sells them. They also sell a giant glazed donut which is so good, they should be arrested for selling it.

Will record breaking Jurassic World push IOA expansion?

I'm surprised. The last Jurassic Park opened to $46 million and finished with less than $200 million. Nobody in Hollywood expected much above $100 million opening. Monday it did $25 million. Biggest non-holiday Monday ever. Just saw it tonight. It was sold out. I thought it was great. Only the...

Norway Pavilion Frozen construction - Frozen Ever After ride

That has got to be the worst, most unoriginal name for a ride ever. EVER!

    We own the Poly now!

The points are so expensive now they probably figured they'd better lower the minimum. What I don't get is why sell 50 points at the Poly when that's not even enough for 1 night in a bungalow?

    We own the Poly now!

That's what I thought but the way it was worded, "We finally took the plunge and bought DVC" made me think it was an initial puchase.

    Does it Bother Anyone Else?

    We own the Poly now!

I thought the Poly was a minimum 100 point purchase...?

What are the drawbacks to renting?

As someone who has rented many times in the past, I will never do it again. I rented points for a trip this past January and lost my job in September. I was out $5,000 as the owner wouldn't refund me. Of course, this is the owners right, but lesson learned. It's not worth the risk.

Interesting Disney Parks Survey Question I got Today - Tiered Ticket Pricing by Season

I don't think so. All signs are pointing to a downturn in the economy (if we're lucky). Many financial experts are saying we're headed towards a serious recession or even depression. If that happens, Disney would be hurting anyways. The way they're going, a turn in the wrong direction will be a...

Interesting Disney Parks Survey Question I got Today - Tiered Ticket Pricing by Season

I mean this with an open heart - Stuff like this just makes it easier for me to pull further away from Disney. They already lost a good chunk of our vacation dollar to Universal. This year, they lost it all. Does it mean anything to them? Of course not. But for me, it makes me realize we've made...
