News Walt Disney World to resume sales of Annual Passes (New sales resume April 20, 2023)

Like Genie, not great but presumably could have been a lot worse. Just got an email that I will be getting the new magnet as a current passholder so that’s something…

In part, seems like Genie is designed to use new, in-demand rides to incentivize WDW resort stays. My guess is that for a ride like Tron, most if not all of the IAS availability will be gobbled up by on-site guests at 7am. So depending on the IAS ride, offsite folks are either at the mercy of...

From a marketing standpoint, Disney would have been a lot better off heralding this as the popular DL Maxpass system comes to WDW AND it’s 5 dollars cheaper with the caveat that a handful of headliners cost extra.

I think the Maxpass style Genie+ is more amenable to the just-in-time touring plan Disney is theoretically trying to create. The head-scratcher is opening up genie+ at 7am and/or before you are actually in the park - especially as this is not (at least for now) an on-site guest only feature.

Pros/cons aside, bottom line is that the new system will add about $900 to a weeks’s vacation for a family of four assuming daily genie+ and adding four additional LL tier 1 rides at $30 a pop. Edit: I’m sure this is by design - enough to make it worth it for WDW, but not enough to deter the...

Agreed. I meant the planning aspect. Many will use the tier 2 Maxpass.

My guess is that a large number of guests (the majority?) will barely touch the genie planning stuff at all. Will just use it as tier 2 Maxpass.
