    Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

That's what I did for my half marathon...I got about 8 miles into it....walked the other 5 miles. The longest walk.....EVER! LOL!!

    Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

I'm already eyeballing another half marathon in November down in Naples, Florida (I live in Fort Myers - so it's pretty close to home).

    Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

No time goal. I just want to finish the marathon and say, "Hey! I did it!" and fall flat face first at the finish line. ;)

    Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

Quick question (and maybe some of you seasoned/veteran runners can help me figure this one out), but why do some training programs have you train up to 20 miles before a marathon? For example, the RunTracker app I'm using in tandem with Galloway's run/walk schedule I downloaded from the...

    Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

Never in a million years would I have thought of, let alone participate in one, run a half marathon. On Sunday, October 2nd, I did just that. I completed the 1st Annual Florida West Coast Half Marathon in Sarasota, Florida at Nathan Benderson Park. I'm not sure why I'm surprised that I did a...

    Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

In a few years? What's the reason? I decided I'd do the WDW Marathon with my sister-in-law when they opened the early registration. It was kind of spontaneous. I just figured that if I don't do this now, then I will never do it. If there's still spots available - register! If it's a...

    Using a Cane

My father uses a cane and an electric scooter (which was medically prescribed by his doctor) and whenever my parents go to Disney, they take care of his cane (in the event he can't bring it on a ride). You shouldn't have any issues. Enjoy your trip. :)

    Epcot rumor per Jim Hill...

True....it's like the old saying goes... " Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

    Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

That does help Dreamfinder! Thank you very much for the information! I ran a 5K in Naples, Florida on July 4th along side a bicycle pacer for the last mile. I was able to ask him what his pace was and he was averaging around a 15:00 minute mile. The training I'm doing is trying to stay...

    Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

If you live in Florida, then getting up early to go for a run is what you do down here during the summer. Tomorrow is my off-day, but on Wednesday, I plan to be on the road by 4:00am, with my runner's light, doing my 3 min run / 2 min walk (slight variation - if need be) for 30 to 45 minutes...

    How Much Walking Per Day

I don't think the technology is accurate. I think it gives you an idea of what you walked. But, it also has a lot to do with how everyone walks. My wife, for example, because she's shorter than I am has to walk faster to keep up with me (she yells at me about this). We may do the same in...

    How Much Walking Per Day

I wear Brooks Dyad 8 sneakers because of my neutral running/walking style (I had a gait analysis done at our local running supply store). Brooks are pretty comfortable sneakers as they are. But, because I wear custom made orthotic inserts, I slip those in for added comfort. I became a Brooks...

    How Much Walking Per Day

My wife and I, along with our two kids, did MK and Epcot in an entire day and by the time we got back to the room that night, my wife had over 25,000 steps in. As for me, I was just walking around and put on another 3000 steps. So, I was in the neighborhood of 30,000 steps. So, 1 mile = 2000...

    Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

Hello fellow WDW Marathon runners (or those thinking about running or spectators)! Last year time (and of course, money) ran away from me and I had to forego the WDW Marathon, but I'm currently using the Jeff Galloway training method (run so many minutes....walk so many minutes) to train for...

Words of genius! Keep her around. She's wise in her ways. :)

Smart phones while waiting in line....

And tick off your friends and family because they're NOT at Disney when they see your FB check-ins. :D

    Upcoming/Rumored Projects

I agree! I was at AK with my wife and kids this past weekend and we were talking (my wife and I) about how it doesn't really "fit" in Animal Kingdom. It seems pretty disjointed, almost an after thought. Universal Studios Orlando did it pretty well with their "Amity/Jaws" section, but Animal...

Kilimanjaro Safari FastPass Line 5-8-16 - LONG LINE!

Yeah, that's what we were thinking. AK isn't a park we frequent so considering that we're "veterans" (we frequent Disney World quite often) so we haven't figured out what's popular and what's not. The next time we have AK planned - we'll just hit Kilimanjaro Safari, Kali River Rapids, and...
