News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

I expect the Simpsons contract to look something like this: https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1262449/000119312507178559/dex1041.htm Basically the Potter licenses expires in June of this year, but Comcast has 2 renewal options that WBs (ATT) has to accept. So they can do an initial...

Cardinals = ESPN. I don't think that's true. While I have looked (and haven't found) the Simpsons contract, I have found the Harry Potter contract and that has an expiration date of 2029 (with Universal picking an extension option in 2019 and 2024). That might have been amended recently. I...

Closing 03/20 at 12:02AM EST. Hit the ground running. Integration. Synergies. That means lots of layoffs unfortunately, but it's the nature of the beast. Officially sell YES. Already have buyers in Yankees, Amazon, and Sinclair for 3.5B Officially sell rest of RSNs. Have interested buyers in...

News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

I think the key here is this: 4.b(ii) Television Productions and Short-Form Productions. The Freeze Period with respect to MOW’s, mini-series and other productions (Television Series produced by SPE under Section 3.a and New Marvel Animation produced by Marvel under Section 5.f) intended for...

I have the document. My question is where on the document did you see that Sony can make short form live action and animation for TV. As I posted in the previous thread, the contract says specifically that Sony cannot make short form animation TV shows and those rights reverted in 2009.

I don't think Sony can make short form animation for TV without Marvel's consent. Live Action, I'm not sure. Where are you seeing that?

I can try to upload it somewhere later if I remember. This is the rest of section 6 in its entirety.

I don't have the bandwidth to reread the contract so maybe you or @bartholomr4 can read and shed some light here. Short Form Animation rights has definitely reverted to Marvel and Sony cannot produce it unless a) Marvel/Disney approves or b) The contract that was amended in 2015 gave those...

News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

On this, I remember a talk at that time that could involve Disney getting ESPN equity for their A&E share, so it may be a sum zero game where they don't really get any cash out of this sale, but equity in ESPN instead. If the future is as dire as you are believing, then they would be better...

At least 2-3 of those plus Feige. Not sure why people keep forgetting Feige. If I were ATT I would come in with trucks full of money to try to lure him. That said, I think Disney will certainly resign Feige, JJ, Favreau, Seth.

Thursday is not the quarterly report. It's the annual shareholder meeting. That's the only thing happening that day. IIRC there are some votes and then Iger and some execs will answer some calls. I might try to make it to the next one.

There's another little name whose deal is up this year. His name is Kevin Feige. Disney has a lot of resignings to do and will, undoubtedly, lose some talent. Lord and Miller were mainly Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy though. I would like to see those guys direct an MCU trilogy. I would also like...

LOL. There's no way in hell that the limited Spider man movie licensing rights are worth about 5 to 6 billion. I don't know what you guys are smoking, but it's supposed to be puff puff give.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Iger mentioned they are licensing content for Disney+ in the last financial quarter.

Right. I said in another board that in the foreseeable future Sony would only part with SM movie rights if they get in financial trouble if the PS5 bombs (videogames is a much more important LoB for them than movies) or if they are interested in RSNs, Fox Sports Latin America, Endemol Shine, or...

News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

I honestly don't see the purpose of Disney making a play for Sony - or Sony Pictures - after balancing their sheets post Fox. The main thing they would want from them is the Spider Man licensing rights which they could acquire separately with cash or asset swapping. There are much better assets...
