News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

@bartholomr4 Seems like you're onto something when you say that if investments aren't made they forfeit a percentage of their equity. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/16/business/media/netflixs-main-rival-is-hulu.html

News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

I did not make that assumption. You did. And they wouldn't give it to them, they would get paid for it. Or, like you are alluding to, they would shop them around and get paid for it. I don't see the downside here. That's a theory, not a proof FYI. Will they lose some customers? Sure, but not...

News Disney and Fox come to terms -- announcement soon; huge IP acquisition

Disney is already licensing something for Disney+. There's no way they won't license stuff for Hulu, including content from NBCU. They will also continue to license content from WBs. You've been wanting Comcast to stay in Hulu for whatever reason, but it makes sense from both sides to separate...

Disney's Streaming Services: Disney+ (and Hulu, ESPN+, Star, & hotstar)

I meant 2019. GoTG2 showed up on Netflix 12/5/2017 and the expiration date is 18 months after that. Civil War, Avengers, and AoU are also not year 1 movies for instance, so there's something with Marvel movies besides just the Netflix deal. Also, I don't know if the other movies promised for...

Disney's Streaming Services: Disney+ (and Hulu, ESPN+, Star, & hotstar)

Couple of things. Endgame is not day 1, but it is year 1. My personal guess is it'll come around Xmas like IW showed up on Netflix around Christmas. If you want to list when certain Marvel movies expire from Netflix (unless I did my math wrong): GoTG2 = 06/05/2019, Thor Ragnarok = 01/06/2020...

The Integration of Fox into the Disney Corporate Family: Parks, Movies, IPs, Studios

Michael Nathasson echoes what Iger is alluding to. It makes sense for them to try to build up Hulu on someone else's dime as long as possible, but it makes sense for them to acquire it fully and it makes sense for Comcast and ATT to sell to Disney. This implies Wall Street will be more than...

The Integration of Fox into the Disney Corporate Family: Parks, Movies, IPs, Studios

Listening to this interview again reiterates how limited Disney is with Hulu until they have full ownership (including bundles that they really want to do). Reading between the lines it seems they are working on acquiring it fully as it would greatly benefit them and their plans.

I'm talking about Turner. Disney paid to get the SW streaming rights back from them early. Those weren't going to expire until 2024. They possibly bought distribution rights to Clone Wars 2008 movies at the same time as well.

The Integration of Fox into the Disney Corporate Family: Parks, Movies, IPs, Studios

Disney held talks to buy Comcast and ATT out of Hulu, but a little early to speculate as per Bob Iger. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-04-12/star-wars-movies-will-take-a-break-after-episode-ix-disney-says

They are being conservative with all of their numbers. If ESPN+ keeps adding and expanding, there's no way they don't reach 8-12MM customers way before FY2024. 60 to 90MM. It's also way cheaper (even if it gets a price hike later on). Combined with ESPN and Hulu they expect the floor to be...

The Integration of Fox into the Disney Corporate Family: Parks, Movies, IPs, Studios

So we know Disney and Turner amended the Star Wars contract. We also know that Turner wanted money + some program to replace Star Wars. I posted something a few days back on what Disney should buy, which included distribution for Star Wars The Clone Wars 2008 movie when they amended the...

The Integration of Fox into the Disney Corporate Family: Parks, Movies, IPs, Studios

Screen Rant's video on what Fox franchises should be rebooted (outside of X-Men): Remakes/Reboots FF - Yeah, of course. Duh. Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters - I don't care at all. I guess? X-Files - This was popular. I never watched it. Yes? I would put it on Hulu though Planet of the Apes -...

    April 11, 2019. Investor day

Those questions sucked. I would have asked about their plan to acquire the remaining shares of Hulu, especially given both Mayer and Iger mentioned the complications with expanding and using the same technology because they would need the approval of the board and because Comcast and ATT have...

Very aggressive pricing strategy. I wanna know bundle prices since I signed up to ESPN+ and Hulu for a year each.

November 12 $6.99 or 69.99 per year. Great price.

Fox family stuff is included. I wonder if they'll rebrand Blue Sky to Disney's Blue Sky like they did Pixar.

    April 11, 2019. Investor day

Last quarter Iger mentioned they were looking to amend contracts with 3rd party licensees. They must have reached an agreement. My guess is money and/or a lot of Marvel movies (considering how barren the MCU slate is in year 1).

Just like Pixar, 2 are because of rights, 1 because of window. TLJ leaves Netflix 01/26/2020 Solo leaves Netflix 07/9/2020 Episode IX will come in due time I wonder how much they paid Turner to get everything else back early. Quite possibly a hefty sum + some Marvel movies (especially sicne...
