Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom Walkway

What in the world was that temporary walkway all about? Was it meant for NBA players to access the MK (did they even do that?) We can only hope it's imminent (and by imminent, I mean, in this century) that everything else that seems to be holding up the walkway nears completion.

Disney resort buses and covid running yet

I think the busses are working out better than ever except when there is an expected rush an hour or so before DHS opens and during dinner time heading to Disney Springs. Everyone is required to sit the entire ride so there's no interacting between parties. It is well organized for the most...

Best face mask for touring WDW

I made 3-ply shaped cotton fabric masks with a filter pocket and then created the ear loops from really soft stretchy pieces of lightweight women's tights. For awhile, I was putting an adjustor on the ear loops, and I still do if I give them to other people. But for us, we like them better...

Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom Walkway

The tube was snaked over towards the lake but there was a lot of equipment over there that got in the way to prevent me seeing, so I don't know. Shouldn't be more than a few years now.

Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom Walkway

When we were there last week, at least one of the days, they had some kind of giant water bag that was taking water from the lake and squirting it onto the construction near the temporary path (not sure what that's for, but....obviously they were working on the area.) They also had tons of...

    Cleanliness Reassurance during COVID-19?

We were at Grand Floridian. I'm totally comfortable with my experience. It won't stop us going back next month.

    CONFUSED ON PARK OPENING

I'm not much of a rope-dropper (not at all, actually) but I know that DHS has been opening 45 minutes - hour prior to posted opening. They're doing this so that the (huge) crowd that arrives can 1) be within the park when the 10am Rise boarding groups are released and 2)begin queueing for M&M's...

    Yehaa Bob

I went out for dinner so I might have missed some news. Has Mickey Mouse been canned yet??

    Cleanliness Reassurance during COVID-19?

Probably so. I had heard they were stopping lines for a short time every 2 hours to disinfect all of the vehicles, but I just haven't observed it or experienced it myself. I'm honestly not too concerned about it because we've washed our hands and sanitized them freakishly.

    Cleanliness Reassurance during COVID-19?

I haven't been to Target 🎯or grocery shopping since March 8th, and I'm staying in a Disney Hotel right now, so.... I haven't seen a single person cleaning railings, elevator buttons, tables in common areas, etc in the hotel. Everyone is wearing masks, compliance is very high, and I'm sure...

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

Not having beds made daily by housekeeping? Efficient. Having your dinner handed to you in a paper sack? Efficient. Having nothing to do and nowhere to go when the parks are all closed before dark? Efficient. Are they seriously thinking we want to vacation this way permanently?

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

This is seriously hard to hear when I'm at the parks and can see the job the cast is doing and have experienced how understaffed restaurants, attractions and services are right now.

    Contemporary Bus Transportation

We are GF right now and it's obvious they are making all kinds of effort around providing the bus service. They are pretty frequent and the drivers are really trying to organize the seating and even deal with "Who's going to EPCOT with me? Who was here first in line?" We've also seen occasional...

    Resorts GF

Sub "Grand Floridian" and "since a week ago" and I would totally agree. We've enjoyed ourselves, but there is quite a bit lacking. The combination of limited transportation hours (in addition, the resort monorail has had some time out of service), limited restaurants and menus, early closures...

News Goodbye to The Grand Floridian Society Orchestra

Talk about putting it into perspective. The loss of the orchestra is big. It's just so, so sad......

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

We've been at the parks for a week and it's been VERY busy, MUCH more crowded than we had expected. We had originally planned to add two days but the parks are just too busy right now so we're going to go home on Wednesday. Our resort isn't at all crowded (GF, hotel side, NO complaints.)...

I bring good news -- the walkway nears opening!!!! (Whatever that means.)

Updated Park Hours for weekend of 9/25/2020

I know they normally surprise us with some extended hours in summer and at holidays, but they're typically at the end of a day when the parks have a later posted closure, anyway -- for example, extending the MK close to midnight instead of closing at 10pm. That's not likely to interfere with...
