News Remy's Ratatouille Adventure coming to Epcot

Overall, I think the design of EPCOT's marquee is light years better than the WDSP version. But I do wish it was scaled down about 15-20%. Just seems a bit too big compared to the rest of the facade.

    Whoopimecalit Forever? Thankfully no...

Gee, if only EPCOT had a space that could house this kind of interactive attraction. A sort of temporary exhibit space, perhaps located in the core of the park's Future World area, would be perfect for innovative experiences like these. Then maybe we wouldn't have to worry about this getting...

News Remy's Ratatouille Adventure coming to Epcot

As others above mentioned, the courtyard is stroller parking. The path down to the water, apart from looking nice, should also serve a practical purpose as an access walkway for crews of the Friendships. You'll often see one or two of the boats docked there in the afternoon so they can be placed...

News Remy's Ratatouille Adventure coming to Epcot

In addition to preventing some unfavorable views of the Eiffel Tower, I think they want that archway to act as a dividing line between the "real" version of Paris and the more cartoony version of Ratatouille. It's a good concept if that's what they're going for, but we'll see.

News Remy's Ratatouille Adventure coming to Epcot

This is yet another example of how EPCOT Center was a masterclass of theme park design. Rather than try to "hide" its show buildings, nearly every one of them was designed to be partially or even fully "on stage." The Land is an exception, but even there its landscaped berm ties nicely into its...

News PHOTOS - Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom to receive enhancements this summer

The blue-gray walls look nice, but still don't like the shiny pink, the blue turrets remain off-putting, and the metallic accents too gaudy. Overall, I find it lousy and unattractive. It'd be one thing if this was a temporary scheme for the 50th, but as a permanent change it's unfortunate.

News Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

Looking at your concept and the one @marni1971 posted a while back of the alternative that kept the Communicore buildings intact, I increasingly shake my head at how shortsighted the initial redesign was. Demolishing perfectly good structures to build something with compromised functionality...

News Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

But would that be the worst thing, considering how neglected Disney let Innoventions become? A Best Buy showroom or Apple store sounds a heck of a lot better than the black curtains, abandoned hallways, and meet and greet backdrops that Innoventions had become. At least an Apple store is bright...

News New Park Entrance coming to Epcot

What's odd is there's a section of beam directly outside the EPCOT monorail station that is almost pristine in appearance. Anyone know if they are testing some kind of sealant or other cleaning process in that area? It's been like this for a while, at least a year now. Either way, the...

Who Should Narrate New Spaceship Earth?

I'd suggest Levar Burton. Who better to tell a us a "shared story?" I also agree with others that Angela Bassett would be great.

News Spaceship Earth Refurb - 2 Year Closure

Definitely agree the whole interactive screen descent was lousy. But I'd say there's one good reason for keeping the screens - ability to select your language.* And while we're at it, I also didn't mind the "show us where you're from" part and how that was sent to the big map in the post show...

News New Park Entrance coming to Epcot

Noticed this from the Taste Track Burgers and Fries Donut Box thread - with the repainting, the ticket booths and this food kiosk now have very similar looks. So it seems there may be some attempt at park wide consistency (at least in ex-Future World) but we'll see if they actually follow through.

News New Park Entrance coming to Epcot

I...kinda like the new scheme for the ticket booths? No, I can't explain why, and the logical side of my brain keeps screaming I should in no way like this. Weird colors! Strange blocking! And yet... I'm not saying it's the best thing ever, but I do think it's cleaner and brighter than what was...

News PHOTOS - Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom to receive enhancements this summer

^ This! All of it. I find this, when catching the sun at the right angle, to be particularly awful. I'm not sure what they were trying to achieve with coating the entire upper structure in a glossy finish, but it looks so garish and off putting. I will give them credit for also painting the...

News PHOTOS - Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom to receive enhancements this summer

Instagram vs. rendering: Still not great in my view, and not really close to the rendering either. The blue is still way off, the gold accents are barely noticeable, and the pink still looks too much like a dingy brown. And as @wdwmagic notes, any picture is going to come down to the camera...

News PHOTOS - Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom to receive enhancements this summer

Darn it, you're right. I guess I had conflated the idea that more things potentially being added for WDW's 50th to mean this entire paint scheme is temporary. But looking back, apart from some chatter that the gold accents on the stone pieces would only be for the 50th, that doesn't seem to be...

News PHOTOS - Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom to receive enhancements this summer

I get Bio is trying to show old vs. new but I find it a bit unfair to compare literally fresh coats of paint with stuff that is 5-10 years faded and worn. I think we all acknowledge that castle needing some sprucing up, but that doesn't mean we had to go veering off into pinkish brown territory...

What's Still On and What's Now Off

AKA, a no-brainer and what should've been done in the first place (preferably about 10 years ago). Honestly, looking at this situation purely from an EPCOT overhaul perspective, this work stoppage isn't the worst thing in my mind since 70-80% of the announced projects landed somewhere between...

News Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

That quote from Iger really said it all. One of the world's best theme park attractions rather ignorantly dismissed by the head of the company that built it. And the hamfisted attempt by Iger & Co. to walk back and "erase" his saying that only adds to the absurdity.

News Magic Kingdom & TTC Entrance/Parking Improvements

Not particularly impressed with how this is looking. I'm sure the ability to process thousands of people through security has improved, but in almost every other way, this redo is a big disappointment. Tram waiting areas are left uncovered; multiple landscape boxes have been lost; trees have...
