News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

Yeah, and in addition, who knows how what was said between parties that wasn't reported? It's an interesting outline of events and of course I'm intrigued with anything involving Disney, but I'm willing to bet there's more to the story or at least multiple possible interpretations.

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

I think the tone of the article should be taken with a huge grain of salt. The factual details were interesting, but they are constantly describing people “fuming”, “stewing”, etc. upon hearing various remarks or in reaction to certain things. Like really, how would they know what all parties...

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

This is only my take, but my read was that Iger expected something of an apprenticeship with the new CEO. And honestly, fair enough on that one. I'm sure it's an enormously complicated job that spans everything from international politics to needing to know media spin to staying on top of palace...

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

Yeah I mean at the end of the day we’re all just humans, right? Easy to see others as living a sort of superpower-ed existence but people are people.

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

Makes me feel bad for all involved. It’s easy to rant about Disney as a powerful abstraction and forget these are real people. Seems like people were feeling hurt and stepped on all around and it was just one of those situations where a multitude of factors collided and the result was a bit of a...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Sure, I think that's fair. No one can judge until we see the final product, it's all just speculation at this point. I just wanted to point out that when people complain it's brushed away as "You just don't like change" (not just by you,) and I don't think that's fair. Some percentage of people...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

To me the Frontierland vibe is charming, vintage, and quaint while a Cars ride-land ride seems cartoonish, commercial, and fast paced. I have nothing against Cars in other places - I would welcome them. In this location though? To me these vibes just don't match. That's just my opinion, of course.

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I appreciate you sharing your perspective, I do. And if I saw it this way, I would agree with you. But this is not how I see it. I don't think this is about accepting change to usher in some beautiful new thing that will be beloved by future generations. I think it's a mistake, brought about by...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I mean I don't think it was a dart board, but I think it was questions like "What are our biggest IPs?" "What does X or Y demographic like?", etc. I think the question of "Does this work in Frontierland?" was maybe question four, five, or six on that list, and was more like "Could we kinda sorta...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I don’t think it’s as deep as you’re imagining it is. Reportedly (from insiders) the area was going to Coco, until the last minute when costs looked too high so they went with Cars instead. I think the Disney Parks are great and am not doom and gloom on them in general. But to my mind, all...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I think the issue at the moment is that there’s not a group who is really trusted in terms of being “guest experience first.” Both in intent and ability. On the one hand you have park visitors, who are not experience designers, right? There’s no expectation that they should know what goes into...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Ok but if you take “theming doesn’t matter” to a logical extreme you have Belle in a Mickey Mouse outfit meeting people in the jungle from Jungle Book. Would people still want to meet their fave characters just as much in what looked like a literal “Put in the IP blender” situation? You can say...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

This sounds like an extreme stance. If you’re saying thematic consistency doesn’t matter at all, then we’re back to the old “Why go to a Disney park in the first place?” argument. I can’t even think of a good comparison here to point out as a logical extreme, because I can’t think of a park...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

Curious if the reports of resort and restaurant attendance sharply declining are true. If so, this seems a bit like the left hand not knowing what the right is doing. If that’s true - if - they’ve already created an unfortunate imbalance in guest spending. They still need people in resorts and...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Is that going to be a thing? It looked to me like the nature themed area would be part of the ride, not something you could walk around on.

    Price hike coming 10/9

I’m not actually sure that traditional theme parks are the best comparison to Disney at this point. Disney is sort of a hybrid experience without a lot of direct comparisons. Vegas and cruise lines might come closest. Disney has a theme park element, sure. But the deep focus on subjective...

News New Villains Show Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Summer 2025

Curious what the content of the show will be. Sing Along? Interactive? Traditional plot arc type musical? Etc.

Do you think Disney will ever make a really impressive playground again?

Thanks! Not a lot comes up on Google Images as it’s new, so wasn’t sure.

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

If you think a slow trackless ride is inherently inferior to Rivers, that’s like saying you’re ripping out your kitchen to put in… I don’t know, in this case I’ll make it an experimental paint splatter art studio. Some small percentage of people might be good with that, sure. Most would say...
