    Good Story On Costs

“Historical significance” often just means “important because it’s old” though. Nothing particularly special happened in Victorian beach towns, they’re just old now, ergo have “historical significance”. Anything becomes old with the passage of time, including Disney rides. So I don’t think...

    Good Story On Costs

Many historical landmarks were run of the mill places at one time though. I think it takes a discerning eye to see where historical value exists and where updates would be better. My general point, though, is that “newer is always better” is just as clearly untrue as “older is always better”...

    Good Story On Costs

I think the thing to remember is that “old for the sake of old” often sells as well as “new for the sake of new”. Would Cape May attract more visitors if they bulldozed Victorian buildings to install arcades? Would couples go on romantic weekend trips to Colonial Williamsburg if they rebuilt the...

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

I think it’s an acquired taste. I remember first hearing some of the songs and being disappointed because I was expecting these big, classic, chorus line-y type Broadway bangers. But later I’d be surprised at how I would mentally come back to a song and it would resonate. I think LMM has said he...

Disney/Raglan Road Sued Over Food Allergy Death

Can you just say you don’t like those things so you’re ordering it without X? Or do requests like that get outright ignored?

Lighthouse Point to welcome guests in Summer 2024

That seems like a really strange use of a themed lounge, although I’m not a cruiser so what do I know.

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

You’re significantly more optimistic than I am but, again, we’ll see! I differ in that I don’t feel Frontierland needed an overhaul, but have some common ground in that I am not 100% opposed to it on principle alone. As I’ve said before, my standard is that whatever replaces what they demolish...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Funnily enough, I think I’m biased against this IP because I’m the target audience, lol. Or at least my family is. Hotwheels are something I clean up about twice a day until I give up and let my living room be chaos. Quite frankly I’m kinda sick of looking at them and don’t particularly want to...

does every one get sick at Disney...

I mean… maybe? Possibly? More likely than not everyone will follow the pattern they do at home (people who catch everything will catch something, people who are generally healthy will be healthy) but there’s always exceptions so who knows? The thing is, you of course know there’s no way to...

Lighthouse Point to welcome guests in Summer 2024

Wait, I’m confused… they do crafts in The Bayou? Or at a spot next door?

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I think the original discussion was about whether or not children are routinely given inappropriate disability labels in the school system - which, if true, would be a very serious issue. It's not that this has never happened - it has, in some specific situations. Decades ago there were...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I have my doubts, but I will say this is a fair argument. If they pull it off they pull it off, and then Disney gets a merch income generator while park goers get a great land. Again, the source material of Cars makes me have doubts - lots of doubts - but who knows.

    At WDW, and I'm Sick

Oh no! I hear you. I had a flu-like virus on one semi recent Disney trip, and pink eye on another. I will say, sometimes the crap memories are weirdly fun too. On my flu-ish visit I missed probably half of the week, but I have strangely great memories of just vegging at the resort while my...

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

I do think there is a deeply archetypal element to Indy that helps with modern day relevance. Even if people are not attached to Ford in particular, he could almost be a stand-in for the idea of “explorer”. I will say I’m not entirely sure if Indiana Jones really fits the theme of AK. But quite...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

There seems to be this assumption on here recently that casual Disney fans, or younger Disney fans, or newer Disney fans have totally different desires for the parks than “true blue” type fans. This could be true, but I don’t think it should be assumed as a given. I was talking about “Instagram...

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

It’s not medical documentation but worth noting that in many cases, more testing and a longer evaluation goes into an IEP than a medical diagnosis, by qualified professionals. IEPs are constrained by law in a different way, so that an eligibility process has to happen first. A medical diagnosis...

And what would such a system look like, in your opinion?

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I see that, but at the same time, when you live in a world where people outright pretend to be disabled to access disability accommodations, what's a better idea?

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

There are negatives, definitely. But to some extent this is just how modern life is - exceedingly complicated. If I want my child to attend a day camp, they need proof of vaccination, maybe a physical, etc. I hear horror stories about the paperwork required when they register for school, lol...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Honestly I think the reasoning is that none of that area is IP. Classic non-IP rides may be allowed to stay if they’re popular, but anything that is there primarily for visual reasons has to be an ad for merch in the park stores.
