News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I’m not understanding this argument. If my husband said he wanted to rip out our kitchen, then yeah, what he wanted to replace it with would have a lot to do with that discussion. If it was a better kitchen, ok. If it was a giant man cave, different story. 😂

I think it’s also salient that this ride is replacing Rivers. If it was on new land off to the side, I think that would be a totally different dynamic.

Do you think Disney will ever make a really impressive playground again?

It does seem to me that the Toontown playground is more based around interactive displays and things like character houses, vs traditional climbing, jumping, and swinging structures? I haven’t seen it in person so not sure. In the pictures I saw a couple of low slides but the rest looked like it...

News Villains Land Announced for Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom

Yeah I think Magnifico is too sympathetic to make a good villain. Instead of making him an archetype of jealousy, vanity, greed, etc., they decided to give him a tragic backstory that made me hope he’d have a redemption arc. The dynamic with his wife was also weird, like she seemed pleased to...

Do you think Disney will ever make a really impressive playground again?

Yeah, and my experience has been that indoor playgrounds that are open to anyone are a bad scene (those with a cover charge tend to be a bit better because they’re limited to small children.) When my son was a toddler he was knocked over hard by kids about 9 or 10 years old who were running...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Neither one makes sense in terms of literal theming, because neither one represents the American frontier (in the era and style that the original Frontierland was meant to convey.) In terms of vibe, I think Coco would have been a much better choice. I guess my thought is - where would I rather...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Was it fully cleared and planned though? I was kinda upset for the opposite reason… I was under the impression that they said “Let’s do Coco Village wait too expensive jk let’s switch to Cars at the last possible second.” To me, that gives the impression that not a lot of thought was put into...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I am somewhat sympathetic to this ride, as my son might enjoy it (Although I never know what to expect with his sensory issues. Tomorrowland Speedway he loves. Those little cars in malls that you put a quarter in he finds terrifying. Barnstormer? Loves. Peter Pan? Terrifying. Huge tall slides…...

Active Shooter Scare/Lockdown at Magic Kingdom (Ended up being no shooter)

I agree that panicking is never a good reaction, if a person can avoid it (sometimes it’s just a physiological response.) I do think responding quickly - even immediately - is different than panicking. If you hear a fire alarm, and you are visiting an establishment, exit immediately. If someone...

Active Shooter Scare/Lockdown at Magic Kingdom (Ended up being no shooter)

A person on the ground is an easy target and also going to get injured by people tromping on their head as they run past. Run hide fight, but again, look for open passageways. Don’t go anywhere that there’s a crowd crush and run away from crowds if possible.

Active Shooter Scare/Lockdown at Magic Kingdom (Ended up being no shooter)

If there is an actual shooter the standard advice is run, hide, fight, in that order. Do not drop to the ground as a stationary target is much easier to hit. That said, crowd crushes and stampedes are also incredibly dangerous, so don’t run blindly and look for open pathways, I would think.

Active Shooter Scare/Lockdown at Magic Kingdom (Ended up being no shooter)

Glad everyone is ok. Did the fight happen at the monorail or in the park as people were headed towards the monorail? Just wondering because if it was the monorail, wouldn’t people have to go back through ticketing (and maybe even security, can’t remember where the monorail lets you out) to get...

Do you think Disney will ever make a really impressive playground again?

I think the owners of the Bluey rights have set up a small, limited run Bluey “experience” in Australia. I don’t think they’re a huge corporation like Disney / Universal.

Do you think Disney will ever make a really impressive playground again?

I have a feeling when that much money is involved they can make things happen if they want to. Contracts can get bought out. (I think this involves merch rights for Bluey as well which would be huge.)

Do you think Disney will ever make a really impressive playground again?

Initially yes, but that doesn’t mean they couldn’t obtain the rights at some point.

Oooo… I recall rumblings about a Bluey area awhile ago?? If anything gets made hope it happens before my son ages out!

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I don’t know, they seem to have done a sharp u-turn on theming the resorts. Honestly I’m more of an IP person so I prefer the type of theming you see in Tokyo and Shanghai, but it just seems to me that if Disney sees subtle theming and ambiance as the best, the most deluxe type experience - why...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Enchanted Rose, Riviera, and Poly Tower all have subtle touches of things or a style that is “inspired by” a movie. The Incredibles is maybe an exception but they seem to have sharply reversed course after that refurb. I stand by the idea that in the areas they designate as the most important...
