News Christine McCarthy to step down from her role as Chief Financial Officer

For everyone happy Christine is gone, she wasn't the issue. Iger is. And he's still there. Who's he naming as his successor anyways? Rob Biger?

News Christine McCarthy to step down from her role as Chief Financial Officer

uhh...well you called it @Sirwalterraleigh shame she had to leave for medical reasons, and I wish her the best. but Ima go ahead and say that's one reason she left right now

    Elemental (Pixar - June 2023)

I mean, you're definitely right on some level. Bouncing around from thread to thread just spewing hate about things people like would be pretty toxic. I can also understand how seemingly baseless negativity can make these threads a drag to read. But I also believe we as consumers have the right...

    Elemental (Pixar - June 2023)

Well, I guess whether or not it's toxic depends on how you say things man. If you're being outwardly rude or hostile towards other posters, then 100% that's toxic, I agree. But if they're just saying they hope the film fails, in a way that isn't disrespecting any other human beings, then I...

    Elemental (Pixar - June 2023)

that's true, but Disney has also made at least me feel that parks investment is usually a bad thing. So, if Disney declines to invest in their parks, at least we aren't losing anything. They will likely let attractions degrade more, but as they have proven, they'll do that anyway.

    Elemental (Pixar - June 2023)

I think calling it toxic fan culture may be a little extreme. Toxic fan culture is harassing actors/actresses because you didn't like the movie they were in. Not hoping Disney takes its lumps because they're anti-consumer. I don't really think that's toxic.... irrational maybe, abut not 'toxic.'...

    Elemental (Pixar - June 2023)

I think there are two reasons why it sometimes seems like people here are rooting for Disney to fail: 1. like you said, it's part of a more general resentment towards TWDC and its leadership, and people feel like they're just getting what's coming to them when they are across the board...

    Elemental (Pixar - June 2023)

I'm not sure how that's relevant, but I think with successful films like Across the Spider-Verse, Super Mario Bros, and Puss in Boots 2, I doubt Pixar's competitors are super envious of Finding Dory and Onward right now.

    Elemental (Pixar - June 2023)

if you're referring to me, I don't hope the film does poorly. I just don't think that this film's success will make or break pixar. But hey.. prove me wrong. Anything is possible I suppose

    Elemental (Pixar - June 2023)

hence why I said 'mostly,' which remains factually true No, they don't. I was specifically referencing the string of Pixar films directly preceding Soul including Finding Dory, Cars 3, Toy Story 4, Incredibles 2, Onward, the Good Dinosaur, and yes, Coco. My point being that Pixar went from...

Disney's Live Action The Little Mermaid

I'm sorry but has anyone said the film is bad without seeing it? I haven't seen anyone here make that claim.

    Elemental (Pixar - June 2023)

they're mostly critically inferior sequels and middling original films. Onward has a lower metacritic critic score than The Good Dinosaur.

    Elemental (Pixar - June 2023)

in whatever predicament caused them to release Finding Dory, Cars 3, Toy Story 4, Incredibles 2, Onward and the Good Dinosaur all in a row, with Coco thrown in the middle as a rare throwback gem almost.

    2022 TEA/AECOM Theme Index

I think we're running with a false dichotomy here park attendance can be capped on a day to day basis AND that can also not be the only reason for the parks' larger attendance decreases

    2022 TEA/AECOM Theme Index

I think the IP mandate is one symptom of a larger overall problem with Iger's business philosophies. The writing is all over the wall really. He's so obsessed with brand and marketing pop. Franchise sequel remake and so on. He's just not creative. He sees no value in creativity. Leveraging...

    2022 TEA/AECOM Theme Index

DAK closes early and has the least rides of all the parks. It also hasn't seen any new attractions in 6 years. It's the best park in WDW in terms of quality but it's also really a half day park that needs considerably more investment. I say this as someone whose favorite park is DAK...

Disney's Live Action The Little Mermaid

Suggestion— maybe instead of questioning why everyone else in world DIDN'T turn out for TLM...maybe we should be asking why people in America DID. The U.S. is the outlier here, not the rest of the planet.

    Elemental (Pixar - June 2023)

I'm aware, lol. Soul was better recieved than Luca, and Luca was better recieved than Turning Red. I never saw Turning Red, nor did I see Luca or Lightyear, so I'm not giving my opinions on those films. Just documenting the reality of the situation. Elemental getting good critical reviews won't...
