Hey Ap'ers, how does it feel to know you are a contingency plan?

First, I'm a bit amazed at how much people will defend Disney, no matter what. However, the people pointing out that their contingency plan is just that, are correct. They need to state what they will do in the event of a downturn in the economy. One of those things is their traditional method...

The “wealthy” is not going to work

I'd define wealthy as: Working because you want to work, not because you have to.

The “wealthy” is not going to work

Something else the belongs in the nostalgia column: Growing up I (and others here) had: - Disney animated movies (they've never been good at live action movies) - Wonderful World of Disney / Wonderful World of Color (TV) - Mickey Mouse Club My kids had: - Disney Channel - Decade of Disney...

The “wealthy” is not going to work

I still think that misses part of the equation. Not able to afford to go is one thing. There will always be those who can't afford to go. Once affordability is no longer part of the equation then the question is: Is it worth it to go? Do I get value? I think that's where Disney has misstepped...

MSEP ending at Disneyland on Sept 1, WDW return in 2023?

I grew up on the MSEP and was really happy my daughters got to see it. That being said: I'm with you. It's time has long since passed. How many "final performances" can you have? Of course, packing it up and sending it to WDW would cost money. People are still piling in at the gates. Nothing...

News Walt Disney World's iconic Twilight Zone Tower of Terror billboard to be permanently removed

Something Tomorrowland originally had (doesn't any longer) was a very kinetic environment. You had: - The skyway - The Peoplemover - Monorail (DL) - Autopia - Astrojets (probably have that name wrong - Dumbo in the sky) Lots of things constantly moving and it gave a feeling of excitement. Over...

News Walt Disney World's iconic Twilight Zone Tower of Terror billboard to be permanently removed

I'm with you on, "Stuff like this made Disney unique." It was a cool ad for Tower of Terror. Still.. It was a billboard. I'd like to think that they tore this down because it's time to advertise a more modern ride in a similar way. That's probably not the case. It'd be cool if they did, but...

    Dinosaur has seen better days

Oh, I was using it interchangeably, too. Disney Springs, Disney Village, Downtown Disney, Shoppes at Lake Buena Vista (Don't remember if that one is right). It's all the same.

    Dinosaur has seen better days

I think it is a bit of missed opportunity that: - They didn't finish the Monorail to Disney Springs - They didn't build the Peoplemover in Epcot - They didn't build the Peoplemover in Disney Springs (first I'd heard of it was your post) - They didn't do something about in park transportation at...

    Dinosaur has seen better days

I agree with them. I was thinking of DHS. Star Wars is not a genre of subject matter then was fantasy, adventure, frontier, or science (Tomorrowland - they botched that one as well) are.

    Dinosaur has seen better days

I argue: - Rhode did a fantastic job with Animal Kingdom - Rhode did a fantastic job with Avatar (what he was given to work with. It's a stupid movie non-franchise. You wouldn't recognize the theme song or are likely to be able to name any characters. This was Disney's answer to losing Potter.)...

    Dinosaur has seen better days

He's exploring out in the jungle, desert, etc. Makes a much sense as Avatar (where they had to bring out Rhode to explain how it "fits" in AK). You could put Star Wars in there at this point and say that Hoth is sort of like the arctic or Endor is sort of like Northern California - it all fits!

Or they could just close the ride and leave it dormant for 20+ years. It's not like they don't have a history of that.

    Dinosaur has seen better days

They kind of need to focus more on the animals, although I suspect that the animals will eventually be protested away. They could do some things like a sky-ride or, better yet, a Peoplemover over the animal exhibits to get you a closer look at what they have. Yes, they have the Safari and...

    Dinosaur has seen better days

I know you're joking but I think it's much simpler than that. Bob knows people will pay "anyway". Look at this forum with how many people respond with: - but it's SOooo magical - I can't wait to take my 3yo there! - You can stay home, more room for me! If people are lining up anyway, why spend...

    Catering to the Uber Rich

This is the same company that said they were going "green" a few years back and charging for parking at the resorts and were applauded for doing so. Turns out it was all "green BS".

    Anyone dislike the volggers content?

I've actually reached the point where I just about can't stand Disney videos. - part of it is my loss of interest in the parks, based everything that's going on with them - I don't see myself ever returning. - part of it is that there may be some tidbit of news like, "The horn fell off the...

What Happens to WDW / Disney Parks during a massive correction / recession?

I think that they think that they have enough "top earners" who are above the fray of recession that they can keep chugging along looking for that max market price. Yeah, the middle class will be affected but that's not (or not going to be) Disney's core audience. I bet that there's some chart...

What Happens to WDW / Disney Parks during a massive correction / recession?

Yep. Exactly my point. Politicians tie the soldiers' hands in such a way that they basically have to call a senator to get permission to shoot back. It's ridiculous.
