anyone have any REAL IDEA when Annual Passes will come back..

The reservation system, which was unfortunately necessary, adds complexity on top of complexity for visiting guests. Most were already complaining about how much that they have to plan: - Dining reservations - FP+ - Getting from point A to Point B in time for some reservation (Dining or FP+)...

News PHOTOS - Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom to receive enhancements this summer

I like it. It's almost gaudy (but, IMO, it's not). I weigh that out with: "Yeah, it's supposed to be over the top as it's the 50th!". If they left this stuff up and it was the 55th I'd be more in the camp of, "This really needs to go away, now." The "rose gold" (kinda pink) doesn't bother me...

Does anyone else find Rise of the Resistance and Runaway Railway underwhelming?

I haven't ridden either and have only watched the videos: I think that the OP has a point. It doesn't mean the rides are bad. They still look really good to me. Still, why not spin the trackless car during a tornado? Why not make it move/shake when it's being attacked and explosions are...

News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

Outside of the new fashion at Disney to have large warehouses exposed: I really think that they missed an opportunity with this one to have the Peoplemover go through it. Yes, they'd have to modify the Peoplemover to do so but that would have helped with the kinetic energy of Tomorrowland and I...

News Florida residents will be able to buy a Walt Disney World 50th license plate supporting Make-A-Wish

Just FYI: I don't know how Florida does it (every state is different) but in Georgia, such plates just go to the general fund. For example, you buy a "feel good about this thing" plate (now you feel good) - that extra money you pay just goes into the general fund even though you were thinking...

Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom Walkway

I think it's great that they finally made it so that you can walk from the MK around to the TTC. I'd like to see them expand the water-bridge (for traffic - I always thought the walkway was pretty minimal but it looks like it's a lane wide) and have the walkway go all the way around the lake...

News Reflections of Earth confirmed to be replaced by Harmonious

The kid (although he's growing up) who does the YouTube channel "Mickey Views" once said something along the lines of, "Disney doesn't believe in Disney," meaning that Disney executives really don't believe in the talent that they employee across the board from filmmaking to theme park design...

News Reflections of Earth confirmed to be replaced by Harmonious

That was one of the best things about Illuminations: It wasn't a pointless cavalcade of Disney characters marching about which is what most shows are (on the castle, Fantasmic, Philharmagic, etc.) The characters marching about was great when I was 5yos. As an adult it's more, "OH, great.. More...

News Reflections of Earth confirmed to be replaced by Harmonious

I meant it two ways: - tongue in cheek - reality: It really wouldn't surprise me if they just removed it all, said it was for the show, and then reduced the maintenance costs in the park because it's just less landscaping to maintain. (tell me you'd be surprised if they actually did this)

News Reflections of Earth confirmed to be replaced by Harmonious

I didn't think about it until your post: I wonder if this nighttime spectacular will be enough for them to get rid of all of those unsightly trees around the lake which obscure people viewing the show.

News Reflections of Earth confirmed to be replaced by Harmonious

Disney also talked big about all of the interactive characters in Galaxy's Edge and how you'd be walking around interacting with them all day. They lasted a few days during the ceremonies. The idea here is cost vs benefit. You can't show on a spreadsheet where the cost of paying those actors...

News Reflections of Earth confirmed to be replaced by Harmonious

I'd bet a few things will happen with this: 1) The nighttime show will be spectacular and loved by all 2) The fountain-hiding bit will run for maybe a year before being turned off 3) When the daytime fountains are turned off, they'll still leave the barges there. They're going to be a daytime...

they're cutting all the other perks so will they do this?

FYI on S&D: You can get good rates there. The resort fees add, if I remember correctly, something like another $50/night to it. I haven't stayed there in years because of this but as I remember it: - ≈$20/day parking - ≈$40/day "resort fees" which includes: WiFi, swimming pool, gym, etc. (all...

they're cutting all the other perks so will they do this?

I'd argue there is: - Disney theming. You're not going to stay at the Days Inn down the street and have a giant Dalmatian by the stairs. For some people this is enough. They only used EMHs, and even the Magical Express, get fill rooms and get people to stay on site. Now? People do that. They...

they're cutting all the other perks so will they do this?

I think that the reality is: They've proven that they can sell the parks multiple times a day so why would that leave that freebie (EMHs) on the shelf. You pay for the day. If you want to stay later into the night then you pay again to go at night and the price depends on the party level: -...

Have you noticed the lack on maintenance ?

...and still people line up at the gate screaming, "TAKE MY MONEY!" They (management) doesn't see the cumulative effect of this. All they see is (individually): - a light bulb is out - a bathroom stall isn't clean - a door opened on the monorail - the monorail is stinky - some fountain no...

    Fifth Gate Disney Memories

Sort of. I'd argue that it's part of Fantasyland now (New Fantasyland) and Storybook Circus is a part of that.

    Fifth Gate Disney Memories

These things are all true. Still, IMO, it wasn't great "land". Even worse, it was whittled down over time to next to nothing as things got closed off because someone got hurt here or there.

    Fifth Gate Disney Memories

To me: Toon Town sucked. Mickey's Star Land was also lame. "What can we do for cheap?" Something I'd like to see back: - DL: Peoplemover - this seems like an easy win to me even if they had to build it from scratch - DL+WDW: Skyway - I think it's a simple ride that adds a lot of kinetic energy...

    Missed Opportunities

Good points. While it's nice to romanticize about what EPCOT could have been, it's far more likely that it would have been like Brasilia. A planned, and failed, city from the 1960s.
