Perhaps, but it's still squabbles and ineptitude that have left this great Audio-Animatronic in pathetic mode for nearly a decade. A good organization simply does not allow this to happen. By the way, to me, "easy" and "expensive" are never the same thing. Raising funds for an expensive...

In disco mode, it's pretty much invisible to those riders who aren't looking for it. I refer again to my post of November 2008 on page 16 of this thread. In its original form, the yeti was huge, startling, scary, amazing and overwhelming. Disco yeti by comparison is huh?, what?, was...

I understand your point, but a cardboard figure doesn't have to be flat. For the last 7 years or so, riders cannot even see the yeti. A relatively inexpensive mannequin or projection would have been far superior to the nearly invisible immobile behemoth they have now. Face it, as is, they...

Sad, but probably true. Yet that "settle for less than great" mindset is exactly what Walt would never have abided. Why is this thread 9 years in the making with over 3,000 posts and 160 pages? Because some of us remember how great the original version was. By far, it was my favorite ride...

And that's one of the main points. A great organization does not give the customer a less than great experience because of finger-pointing and budgetary squabbles, and a great organization especially does not let that finger-pointing and budgetary squabbling go on for nearly a decade.

Then why keep the blasted thing there? Grab a shovel and remove the skunk. Air up the tires. Common sense tells me that a decent temporary replacement could be cheaply installed if the yeti was removed. Again, fur covered cardboard with a hinge and string could do the job better than what we...

Do we really know that? Again, I zipped through the entire thread and saw no photos of an empty cavern, and no firsthand account that it indeed was removed. Maybe it has been, but the fact that the pathetic crippled machine is still there doing absolutely nothing indicates to me that it is...

Not to drag this out further--but, hey, it's a slow day at work--it would appear that no one really has any proof that the yeti is indeed easily removable. Maybe it is. Maybe it isn't. My gut feeling is that it is indeed removable, but it isn't easy. Why? It's huge. It's elevated. It's a...

Oh. Any prediction on something perhaps opening up this late in the game?

Having an impossible time trying to book anything at WDW from January 3rd to January 6th. Anyone know what the problems are with that timeframe?

Call me pathetic, but I just zipped through the entire thread. Can't say I stared in detail at every post, but can say that nowhere did I see a photo of an empty cavern. Yes, I may have missed it, but it would seem that such a photo would have been shown, reshown, discussed and resurrected on...

Yeah, very bad form to quote one's self, but I believe this was my first post on the subject from back in November of 2008. It's around page 16. I came across it while looking for the empty cavern photo. Can't believe I've been beating this dead primate for nearly 9 years. Time to get a life.

Not to cast dispersions, but could an empty cavern photo have been taken during original construction, photo-shopped, the result of a curtain, or in some other way not realistic? Again, sitting here, I have no idea what is correct due to my lack of firsthand knowledge in all these regards...

News Announced: Mary Poppins Attraction in UK Pavilion

Yeah, but Torchwood never had the following that Dr. Who had. Torchwood doesn't have 50 years of history, and it's far racier than Dr. Who. We don't let our kids watch Torchwood.

The Horizons decision was seen as progress when Mission Space was in development. It didn't turn out that way, but the bigwigs thought the replacement for Horizons would indeed be better. Here, no one actually wants a broken yeti. It happened, but everyone obviously wishes it had not happened.

Good point. But I still think a couple days of shutdown at a minimum would be required even if everything went as smoothly as possible.

This scenario would indeed seem to make sense. With that being said, it is exceedingly rare for any machine anywhere the size of that yeti to be replaceable within a few hours. A few days maybe. But I cannot think of a single example of an installed machine that big being removed from a...

Perhaps, but like I originally said, the most reasonable and logical explanation is right about 80% of the time. This indeed may lie in that pesky 20%, even if the respected insiders' versions seem unreasonable and illogical. Also, the whole notion that the thing was removed, worked on, and...
