If it’s anything like Gringotts I’m sure it’ll be fine. If I had to guess, there won’t be much in the way of full spinning, more ‘rotating 90 degrees to face the screen on our left’ and back.

As I understand it, the goal is to give a coaster experience first, dark ride second. They’re calling it a story coaster, but I think that’s to tout the controlled spinning (you can look at a screen for longer if you keep turning to face it as you pass) more than anything else.

To add one more thing to the above responses, the flume itself flows more slowly in Florida than California, allowing the attraction some breathing room and better pacing in the WDW version.

So what will they do with the space that the design center takes up in Shanghai? Is the canopy going to be extended downwards a bit more, a new set-piece for the train added, or will they just plant some more trees to green up that side?

I know this is getting into opinions, but I’d argue what’s there *is* good, but too much of it is hidden behind a paywall. That’s not necessarily a permanent problem, but until they add back in more characters, droids, shows, and/or another ride it’s going to feel like something’s missing.

I think at the end of the day that as long as Disney is unwilling to show the movie, the ride is going to bear the brunt of any criticisms that the IP faces. Are we really surprised that they’re ditching a ride based on a movie they’ve actively avoided for decades?

I know you’re kind of joking, but I mean honestly it’s true. At it’s core, it’s functionally a space western fairy tale, so it’s literally a world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy. Better behind Frontierland and Fantasyland than Kablam! Batuu is actually an undiscovered part of California.

Coaster with projection screens, like Gringotts and Rock’n’Rollercoaster had a baby. I believe someone said it would be 44 inches, and 2021 was the original date, but who knows at this point?

I don’t necessarily disagree, but I think some of that has to do with the fact that each new castle park is gonna drop some older things in favor of what’s interesting at the time of their development. Magic Kingdom was built without Matterhorn or Pirates, Tokyo without Big Thunder, Paris...
