Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

If staying home, masking up, and sanitizing is "being afraid," then so is wearing a seatbelt, avoiding questionable areas, and locking your doors at night.

LOL I live in Florida edit: also, it was a joke. I enjoy living in Florida, but there's definitely a grimy side to it. i'm just poking fun at the state i live in, jeez.

True, but not as the same level as a nurse, lol.

That may be, but I can’t stand the sight of blood...or any bodily fluids, for that matter. Lol.

It is really sad to see, I agree. Masks have become so politicized, when they're a fact of life in many countries. I personally have asthma and I went to springs the other night. Yeah, it had just rained and so it was humid as all get out, and it got difficult for me to breathe with the mask on...

I go to UCF and the level of cases seems to be alright so far. Like, ideally there wouldn't be any, but I don't think there has been any meaningful spread on campus. I'm hoping for the best. All of my classes are remote this fall, which sucks because it's my first semester at a university, but I...

A sequel? Nah, not this one

It honestly shocks me that GS is high. But I suppose your average guest isn't as critical of parks as we are. And fair point to it being closed already if that was the case. I know my 2 weeks of macroeconomics this semester don't really make me an authority in any way on this topic ;) If I knew...

News Splash Mountain retheme to Princess and the Frog - Tiana's Bayou Adventure

Personally, I think it works well as a middle ground between Pirates and BTMRR- roughly speaking, it's geographically accurate. Of course, this is still in its early stages, so who's to say what the final product will look like?

IMO, they should have taken the opportunity to keep Epcot closed. They can't really be making that much $ from it, can they? It can't be cost effective to keep it open, especially if you factor in guest experience.

Oh for sure - I've been masking and disinfecting often. I don't go to parties or anything like that. I live in a dorm and it seems most are taking the recommendations seriously, but of course there are some that will ruin it for others. I did go out to dinner with a roommate and one of her...

Thank you for replying! This is really interesting, unfortunately I wish it didn't have real-world effects. Do you think we're heading to lower cases in FL? Personally I hope so, but doubt it, especially with back to school and the fact that a lot of the population is elderly and more...

You would think right now, though, they'd want to be catering to APs. Yeah, they don't spend as much money in the parks as the people who visit once a year, but since those people aren't visiting right now, APs are the next best thing. An AP spending $2 on a popcorn refill is better than $0.

Don't forget the snack stand with a $10 cupcake and a limited edition Groot's head popcorn bucket (popcorn not included)

That's fair. Hopefully, once those restrictions lift, they'll start selling APs again.

That makes sense. Ugh, I hate the thought that we're only in the first wave. That's so discouraging. I think with combined Labor Day as well as back to school, cases will spike.

Question for all of you more knowledgeable about economics than I am- if attendance is so low, why not open back up AP sales again? Even if it's just for FL residents. I'm back in Orlando and I would consider buying an AP, but that's not even possible at this point. I mean, they have a 2 day...

This is something I've been pondering for a while. I'm incredibly unversed in epidemiology, but there seems to be a downward trend in COVID cases, is there not? Trends went down at the end of May, then we had what appears to be a second wave in the summer, and it seems to be decreasing again...

Orlando man charged with hitting a Disney security guard during fight over COVID-19 mask rule

It’s not as bad as where I work, but people are definitely up in arms over masks. Had a lady tell me “I forgot we live in a communist country now” when I asked her to wear one. Like yeah, a local mandate to wear a mask during a pandemic that’s killed well over 100,000 people is communism. Lol...

Pretty sure in the fine text of an AP that it says that provisions are subject to change without notice. Not that Disney should or shouldn’t refund but I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t. At most they’ll extend.
