I Do Not Like It, Sam I Am! (A Curmudgeon's Review of Genie+)

I agree. Even if lines are standby-only but are long, they're better than the alternative. The psychological difference between waiting in a 30-minute standby line that looks long but moves constantly, and a standby line that looks short but takes 30 minutes to get through because you're being...

    Terminal C Baggage Wait

While I have no personal experience to offer (we always travel carryon-only), friends who flew into Terminal C at Thanksgiving said they waited no more than 20 minutes for their bags.

‘Ohana - What am I missing?

I think it's sort of a Be Our Guest situation. Reviews/quality in comparison to the price have gone downhill for long enough now that even the less frequent visitors (like my family, for whom it used to be a must-do and is now no longer even a consideration) have picked up on it and bloggers are...

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith vs TRON Lightcycle / Run

I'm sure you're right. I was coming into it with zero knowledge of Tron (or at least, nothing that I remembered: I saw the first film as a child, and never watched the more recent one). However, I felt that the preshow seemed to promise a type of experience that the ride didn't remotely deliver.

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith vs TRON Lightcycle / Run

Rock 'n' Rollercoaster by a mile. Tron's ride system is cool and fun, but it's over in the blink of an eye, the daytime experience is far less interesting, the "story" makes zero sense (we are racing! all on the same team! against nobody!), and it can only accommodate a fraction of those who...

Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin - Classic or Not

It's fine for what it is. It pales in comparison to, say, Men In Black over at Universal, but it's an enjoyable attraction that moves people through quickly and is fun for guests of all ages. Not everything needs to be an E-ticket (nor should it, since WDW refuses to design E-tickets with...

LOL, the elephant! Sorry, I skipped down to comment and didn't see there was a newer photo.

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

A good point, but not relevant to the subject matter of my post. Wait time (not ride length, which nobody mentioned) is what touringplans uses to measure predicted and actual crowd levels, and it was the touringplans estimates that the OP and I were both talking about: I was just trying to make...

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

FWIW, touringplans measures crowds by standby wait times. All a high crowd level means is that people waited a long time for certain attractions. It _could_ be because there were more people in the park, or it could be due to attraction downtime, higher than normal usage of Lighting Lanes...

George Lucas in family photo at Walt Disney World

Wow, that is cool! After comparing the photos (same watch, belt, sneakers, hair), I don't think there can be much doubt. What a great family memory and story for that man to be able to share. May the Force be with you... or at least lurking behind you in the background.

5 Challenging Problems For Disney To Solve

If the article is an accurate reflection of what Disney corporate thinks, then with respect to the parks, I think it shows that they're tenaciously tone-deaf about why attendance has been down. There may be a tourism slump, but the bigger issue is park management's stubborn adherence to new...

    Is Memory Maker worth?

To offer the opposite point of view: I'd say absolutely not. Memory Maker is a giant waste of money. We did it once, and the photos were no better -- and in many cases, were of lower quality -- than the ones CMs and PhotoPass photographers took of us for free on our own phones/point-and-click...

    Disneys Wilderness Lodge help?

Every WDW resort is "full of kids," particularly during school vacations. However, they'll generally be concentrated around feature pools (especially mid-afternoon when there are kid-centric games being conducted), transportation, and character meals, and even then, they're usually pretty easy...

Help me Decide where to stay

You didn't mention if the budget was a concern. If so, keep in mind that the Swan/Dolphin tend to be far less expensive than the Disney deluxes, and are walking distance from EPCOT (and HS) and you get the same entitlement to extra evening hours and that extra 30 minutes in the morning as the...

Transferring luggage and groceries during a split stay

Yes. If you or a grocery delivery person bring refrigerated items to the hotel, Bell Services will keep them cold for you until the room is ready or you're able to collect them. What they will no longer do us keep things cold that Bell Services is transferring between hotels.

    POR with an 8 YO?

Chiming in to agree. I think all of the moderates (PORS, POFQ, CSR, CBR) are equally kid-appealing and kid-friendly. You can't go wrong with any of them from that standpoint.

    Skyliner Question

The shortest part of the route will be from Pop Century to Caribbean Beach (which is the hub, so that's where you have to disembark and either hop on the one headed to HS, or the one headed to Riviera/EPCOT). It's only 3-5 minutes, so it will be a good test of how you're going to feel riding the...

    POR with an 8 YO?

Our kids' first-ever visit to WDW (at ages 4 and 6) was at PORS. We stayed in Alligator Bayou, in what were then brand-newly-refurbished Princess and the Frog rooms with the fold-down Murphy bed. (This was 11 years ago, and those rooms have since been refreshed with another soft goods refub.)...
