I suppose the other thing going against updating GMR is we dont know what was happening about the licencing of the non owned films. Could the the cost of that gone beyond what Disney was prepared to pay
My DH may have had a tear in his eye when he saw the Falcon for the 1st time. He loved GE and would quite happily have spent hours there just wandering around.
We did this on the 24th sept, last time we did it was 6 years ago (havent been to wdw in that time). Parade was excellent, fireworks a bit meh, nice to meet some rare characters but SO crowded, just seemed like a normal day
Perhaps the reason the die hard fans are not flocking to to Galaxys Edge is the fact that they are not allowed (with good reason) to dress up and 'play' there. Would be a possible after hours option.
Wait times actually seem to be longer first thing during EEMH than they are later in the day. Would the re-tiering of rides have contribited to shorter wait times?

Does WDW have more domestic or international guests? I would imagine that many international guests that were aware of GE planned thier trip around the original planned opening date, rather than than the earlier one
