Me, a person on the call: PLEASE ELABORATE Could this be accelerated depreciation of some rides/shows/attractions they’re replacing before they’ve run through their full schedule? Or is this all new cruise ships? 👀

I don’t know, it’s hard to completely discern, but it sounds like pricing net of commodities and labor was definitely negative at Disneyland and may have been negative at WDW. They specifically called out increased demand at both parks, which is supposed to mean volume.

Shogun gets a streaming shout. Because of how the business is structured, the cost of that show almost entirely hits the Cable networks, but Hulu is getting the benefits. A perfect show.

GAAP says the $2B write down is a drag on earnings. The IRS says it isn’t. They’re taxed on the higher number but report as a percentage of the lower one.

Couple random notes, Free Cash Flow was really strong at $2.4B, the highest I can remember seeing since before the pandemic. Their FCF for the whole year last year was $4.9B. So the bankruptcy doom and gloomers had a bad quarter. Also EBIT was 17.4% of revenue which again is a significant...

We’ll see how it shakes out today. The headline number is bad but also influenced by a huge write down on their Indian business that they more or less own by accident. The traders haven’t had their coffee yet. I’m not saying it will wind up positive, just that tracking for premarket earnings...

    Considering DVC

One bedrooms are really only hard to get at Beach Club and sometimes Grand Floridian, at least at WDW. There will still be occasional dates where trading resorts is hard due to special events or it being the first 2 weeks of December (highest DVC demand time), but generally speaking you can get...

    Considering DVC

FYI, unlike most older resorts, Riviera contracts start at a minimum of 50 points so you won’t find less than that in the resale market. And another unusual thing about Riviera is that if you buy Riviera points resale, you will ONLY be able to use them at Riviera. I assume you’re looking to...

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Disney should rethink the process and provide enough staff and ECVs to make in park ECV rentals a guarantee and take no more than 90 seconds in park for any guest. This would dramatically increase the efficiency of their bus service and provide an improved experience for disabled guests while...

I have never heard of an in park hotel that was inside the security bubble. I get the thinking after Mandalay Bay, but the logistics of running something like that seem overwhelming. At Tokyo Disney you have to go through Security from Miracosta into Disney Sea.

They’re not putting the Disneyland Hotel inside the bubble. They’re giving it its own security exit into DTD so the hotel guests don’t have to share one with the proletariat.

I don’t know why they would bother with proof of stay past like 9AM. The GCH entrance and PPH entrance are rarely more than 3 parties deep after that.
