    What’s Really Happened to Imgaineering?

They laid off a bunch of good people, they scared a bunch more off with the planned and later aborted move to Florida, and they’re being micromanaged from above WDI. Even still I think they’re doing pretty well overall.

They also went back and proactively put mini fridges back in all the GF rooms and VGF studios instead of those stupid beverage coolers. The other resorts are only getting the mini fridges back as the beverage coolers fail (other than new builds and renos) Super, duper fancy.

It’s as much as I’d pay for my family to be in a balcony room on a brand new cruise ship for a week but without the included food or magicians.

I don’t think that’s quite how I’d frame it. If they couldn’t rent most of GF at those prices they would have just lowered them. The thing was they could fill most of the rooms for those ridiculous prices - but not all of them. So they wanted to keep squeezing all $1000 from the folks who...

I think the trade off is do you want a small table in your room and real dishes with a dishwasher, plus a restaurant in the building (probably), or do you want a larger room with 2 bathroom sinks and showers plus a 3rd sleeping surface so it sleeps 5 instead of 4 and better proximity to the TTC...

Same! I look forward to staying here using my cheapo resale SSR points when the initial rush comes down. I paid as much for the entire contract as a week would cost here in cash.

They sold less than 4,000 points for the cabins in May. They won’t sell it out at all without some serious changes to the financials.

The prices do drop after the first of the year. It looks like they’re trying to gash people who HAVE TO be there opening night.

It’s a tiny dishwasher. A washer dryer would have been easily 6x the footprint.

Yes, both dedicated and LO. It’s not clear yet how many of each. It sounds like there’s 6 penthouse rooms.

I would love to see what they do with the kitchenette space in the dedicated 2BRs. Should open things up a lot in there. Overall the rooms seem less rectangular and more square.

I guess that depends whether you think a more complete kitchenette with a table and bench, a mini-fridge, a dishwasher, and real plates and cups is more valuable than a second shower and sink and an extra sleeping surface. I bet they’ll be the same.

At Grand Californian I looked approximately straight down into the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. Not exactly the most exciting view, but it was undeniably a theme park view. Like all rooms at VGC, it was of course characterized as “Standard View” 🤷‍♂️

Yes. It’s like someone saying they have a view of Jupiter from their yard. If it was $7 a night more, maybe I’d be less annoyed. But at the other resorts it’s like 2-3 points more per night.

TPV is nonsense at BLT, where it’s just a glorified parking lot view and if you get the binoculars you can see a castle. It’s even worse at GF where you typically can’t even use the binoculars from your room, you have to go onto the balcony to birdwatch towards the park. This at Poly is egregious.
