On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Doing something I’ve never done before on the next “big original content” - actually writing drafts in a word processor. Plus there are rumors and narratives I want to fully research and vet before I post. This thread really blew up on some interesting places on YouTube. The next “big original...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

WDC has more cash than every single source I know said they did. It was a debt fueled cash haul. But there’s still a little more left under the mattress than any of my peeps thought or claimed there was. So that’s a thing. Bob Iger was not anywhere near this presentation to shareholders this...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

100% stand by every word. The timing of it all around earnings brings it the highest level of scrutiny, and that’s fine. Corporate earnings reports are getting about as credible as TEA attendance estimates. But they are the only agreed upon starting points to even talk about a firms financials...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Worth nothing that these two positive items I highlighted in a post last night were indeed the headlines of the day that saved their report. But please, keep telling me how I got it all wrong.

Multiple things happening at once. Disney didn't brag to Wall St that its gonna eliminate 10% of its workforce in a giant reduction. They also are also laying off seemingly anyone involved with new projects at the parks as they are not happening. Indeed, Disney's grip on spending is so tight...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Here's the thing about Disney's parks in China: They're in trouble. It is political trouble and it is financial trouble every time the CCP gets involved. I'm not shocked nothing was said about the parks today (Shanghai is open notwithstanding), but there will not be silence on this issue for...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

No talk of layoffs today. Disney's furlough action taken earlier in the year was cited as a cost savings maneuver that saved their quarter. Per conference call "most cast members furloughed" will return eventually. Yeah. That same company that totally killed spending on the theme parks...

Shanghai is losing money on its operations too.

Chapek preaching truth rn, as we have discussed. WDW's demand is quite muted. But they'll be in good shape when consumer confidence returns. Also uh, um, and eh.....

Whats McCarthy's definition of "net positive contribution" from WDW operations. This went from "hey it's not so bad" to "ughhhh stop listening now this is the legally required disclosure"

Read the report. Nothing illegal. All this stuff is totally above boards now. If you include everything they marked off as an exclusion, this company lost close to $2 a share.

Holy Enron accounting Batman! I guess if you exclude literally everything bad in your earnings report you can make money after all!

This thread is gonna be so lit this afternoon that it can wait.

They'll probably begin immediately after they announce the actions they intend to take. Usually these things come in waves afterward. I hope they offer a voluntary separation option before an involuntary sacking. Those tend to benefit salaried jobs higher up the food chain more than the front...
