News New Haunted Mansion Grounds Expansion, Retail Shop Coming to Disneyland Resort in 2024

I've heard the deal with the Hitchhiker effect is not quite what people think it will be. I really hope that proves to be true. WDW's version of the effect is a pale substitute for the original and doesn't deserve to be replicated. I alluded a while back to the Bride receiving updates, and more...

    Tokyo Disneyland Resort Expansion

The ride is purportedly a "memory play", being told by the Trolls - but I think the Ahtohallan angle maybe could have worked better and offered some unique design opportunities here.

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

Some of the most successful rides in the world have only one song where they rely on variations of it to carry you through the whole experience - Given the nature of theme park rides as a medium it often seems like that's a better way to carry guests through to a complete and satisfying...

News Fantasmic!, Festival of Fantasy Parade and Mickey's Royal Friendship Faire to return to Walt Disney World

WDW is pretty content to do things differently than Disneyland, in many regards. I think Disney’s interest in beefing up their 2025 offerings quickly is what’s most likely to drive a new Night Parade.

News Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

The issue isn't mere difference of opinion. Complaining that dialogue about looking for critters is reaching to be "relevant" absolutely reeks of an agenda, and that poster's past comments only suggest it further. There are valid criticisms of those short bits of dialogue, but come on. Saying...

News Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

Sounds a lot like you have an agenda, and it's only getting clearer. There are other threads if you'd rather discuss something you haven't already made up your mind not to enjoy.

Monorail Peach Gets New Black Deltas

Can I ask what kind of issues you're referring to? Just out of pure curiosity If they wanted to beef up recognition of the individual colors there are probably a bunch of fun guest-facing ways you could do that - have announcements at the station like "Now approaching: Monorail Gold", "Monorail...

Monorail Peach Gets New Black Deltas

I sort of just don't get it. The Monorail look is so iconic, especially with the long streaks of color running down their sides. If you're gonna mess with that you should probably do something that makes some sort of real impact. I assume there must be some purpose or thought process behind...

News New Haunted Mansion Grounds Expansion, Retail Shop Coming to Disneyland Resort in 2024

In addition to 👀 But I won't say too much for risk of overhyping or ruining what otherwise might be a fun little surprise

News New Haunted Mansion Grounds Expansion, Retail Shop Coming to Disneyland Resort in 2024

It wasn’t pointed, I was just attaching to the most recent point of that conversation. He may *be* going in the Attic for all I know . . . though I suspect that he won’t, for other reasons.

News New Haunted Mansion Grounds Expansion, Retail Shop Coming to Disneyland Resort in 2024

This Candleman is separate from the Mini one that appeared in the Attic during HMH. Trying to get to the bottom of where, but it seems very likely he will appear at DL. I've heard of at least one other new figure being installed, though I'm not certain how prominent it will be.

News New Haunted Mansion Grounds Expansion, Retail Shop Coming to Disneyland Resort in 2024

It's pretty extensive. At this point I wouldn't expect an opening before August, unless something changes.

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

Am I misremembering? I thought something was announced to be up there, with fireworks viewing of some sort - I haven't been following this closely so it's very possible I'm wrong, but if so that would be a HUGE miss.

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

It’s very strange. Some of their most popular and best people-eating attractions rely on methods they’ve now very largely rejected. How many classic attractions offer(ed) few or no significantly advanced animatronics? How many have managed to entertain and move guests for literal decades while...

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

Part of the issue is that Disney seems to have forgotten the art of the mid-range attraction - they have to start delivering quality attractions that land between Journey of Water and Flight of Passage in terms of scope. Right now we mostly get things towards the extremes and have mostly lost...

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

Moana is a different kind of boat ride. But nobody complained about Jungle, Pirates, and Splash all in a row for 30 years, so this probably wouldn’t change that anyway.

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

I feel like I agree that the new tower is not particularly harmonious with what came before, even if they're pulling influence from an early concept for Disney's Polynesian. That tower design may have been a valid approach on its own, but it does feel more generic and less evocative than what...
