News Hatbox Ghost coming to Walt Disney World's Haunted Mansion

Back in the hallway. It’s dumb that it’s taking this long, but it’s coming back.

News Disney plans to accelerate Parks investment to $60 billion over 10 years

I think people are very quick to forget, too, that Universal has stumbled while opening every single one of its parks in Florida. They've never once pulled it off flawlessly like many seem to be predicting they suddenly will with Epic Universe. It usually takes them a good half-decade or more to...

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

I personally have yet to see any reason to believe Radiator Spring Racers is a serious consideration for MK. The Mexico Pavilion seems to be off the table for a number of reasons - Coco at MK seems the most likely based on what I'm hearing, some sort of simulator.

News Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

Wouldn't count on a giveaway, but releasing a commemorative Pin or similar wouldn't be out of the question.

News Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

It's worth remembering, though, that it is often more difficult to reconfigure an existing building than it is to build one new. When you're starting from scratch the construction process can be planned to account for the best order of operations for what you're building. Meanwhile, taking...

Rumor Disney 100: Great Moments with Uncle Walt to Replace Mr. Lincoln

For reference, the somewhat substantial transformation from Snow White's Scary Adventures to Snow White's Enchanted Wish cost merely several hundred thousand dollars. You'd have to be embezzling to spend $5 Million on Lincoln and end up with something that passes for a normal refurb.

Changes to Peter Pan's Flight at Magic Kingdom

If it helps any, WDW's Peter Pan's Flight building is about the size of a thimble. No chance that Tokyo's massive new ride will replace it. I too am of the opinion that Peter Pan's Flight is merely long overdue for a good, healthy sprucing up that fully respects what's already there. Bring the...

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

I agree that it's sort of weird. Feels like stretching the concept to the limit in the name of justifying its placement in Fantasy Springs. That they sort of try to wave it away within the story suggests the choice of ride system is a liability to be excused rather than an asset to be embraced...

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

Essentially, yes. The Trolls are retelling the story of Anna and Elsa, and through Grand Pabbie's magic it appears to unfold around you.

Rumor Disney 100: Great Moments with Uncle Walt to Replace Mr. Lincoln

Disney is purposefully installing a turntable so Walt and Lincoln can run shows in repertory. They'll likely run the Walt shows exclusively for a bit, but when the time comes they'll be ready to alternate shows easily. Would have been a lot cheaper just to replace Lincoln with Walt. They...

News Big Thunder Mountain to receive full retrack

Disneyland Paris really gets it right in this regard. I'm not against Big Thunder getting retracked, especially if it needs it, but it does seem like Space would almost certainly be in more dire need. How it's hung on so long I don't really know.

News Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

Didn't really seem like that, considering you quoted someone's post and bolded the part that most related to your own comment. That seemed to suggest pretty fairly that you were attempting to undercut their assessment rather than merely offering your own separate one. On top of that, I don't...

Way to mischaracterize that poster's completely legitimate (and overly-earned) complaint.

    “Something major” coming to DHS???

The licensing Disney pays for those attractions is a pittance compared to how much the rides make them. Conversations have been had about retheming RNRC and Tower at DHS, but cutting the licensing wasn't the driving force and so far the idea hasn't gone anywhere.

News New Haunted Mansion Grounds Expansion, Retail Shop Coming to Disneyland Resort in 2024

. . . I wouldn't hold out for a July opening. And certainly not with the regular HM show. There's a lot of work to do and they're currently behind. They also haven't fully removed the Holiday show for this refurb - some pieces have been taken away for maintenance, but the plan was always to...

News New Haunted Mansion Grounds Expansion, Retail Shop Coming to Disneyland Resort in 2024

I'm at about the same place - while I would much prefer a Bride that throws back significantly to the earlier and (I feel) more successful versions of the character, realistically I'm ready to settle for what will hopefully be an improved version of Constance's that's far less doofy than what...

News New Haunted Mansion Grounds Expansion, Retail Shop Coming to Disneyland Resort in 2024

It's worth noting that the Imagineers don't just have free reign to do whatever they'd like wherever they'd like - They do sometimes have the opportunity to present ideas of their own volition and attempt to make the case for them, but very often they're tasked with delivering things that...

News New Haunted Mansion Grounds Expansion, Retail Shop Coming to Disneyland Resort in 2024

According to the CM Manual, scene 11 is The Hitchhikers Crypt. It is possible, however, that the scenes are not numbered the same way today. But work in that area would certainly make sense.

News New Haunted Mansion Grounds Expansion, Retail Shop Coming to Disneyland Resort in 2024

I’ll tell you for certain that the original HHG Carousel mechanism was fully removed during this refurb. What’s gone in there since, I’m not sure, but I wouldn’t expect the effect to return as it was. I *have* had someone assure me the effect won’t be the same as the WDW version, and that it...

News New Haunted Mansion Grounds Expansion, Retail Shop Coming to Disneyland Resort in 2024

The Hitchhikers? Tough to say - I HOPE that Disneyland wouldn't bother swapping out their HHG effect unless the replacement was clearly superior, which is kind of a tall order for such an iconic effect. The Bride, meanwhile, could hardly be worse . . . but if things go along the lines of what...
