I think it's worth noting to that the Parks blog says "film" as opposed to "show" that distinction might be trivial, but I doubt it. A film you preserve. The other elements make up the remainder of the show.

yeah I feel like they could probably do something a little better there but whatever. A toppled Waternoose statue or being pulled under by tentacles. The eyeball motif is fine but not really a compelling sculpture.

I'd prefer Futurama over the Simpsons. The characters, settings and stories lend themselves better to theme park attractions. I feel like the "cult" status of the property is also an advantage. It's the right type of edge for an edgier DHS. Neither is great, but Futurama ticks more boxes, IMHO...

I do not like actual HM show elements being used here. It's lazy. The Haunted Mansion Parlor should be HM-inspired not stuff directly lifted from the attraction. The nautical additions are nice but Madame Leota and the Ghost Host should remain tethered to the mansion.

They tried to retcon Hatbox and make him villainous but he'll always be a grim grinning ghost to me. The only true villains are the imagineers responsible for his placement in the mansion.
