What's your favorite ride to go on after dark

So many to choose from... I'd have to say The Haunted Mansion. I'll go on it 3-4 times in a row right before park closing. In Disneyland it's Pirates but the WDW version is kinda lame (late night Matterhorn is cool too!).

Does talking on rides bother you?

    Yes YES... ...enough said.

Will they walk away with my camera?

I believe the smart ones choose... ...people like me who are too old and overweight to run not to mention being constantly surrounded by my four children asking for money :hammer: Taking the picture is kind of a respite for me :) Brian

    One Day-One Park ticket $71!!!

I appreciate your $0.02 and believe I understand... ...where you're coming from. Disney started raising ticket prices in 1984 as part of the inbound Eisner/Wells era as part of a mandate from the Bass Brothers who owned 20% of Disney. Disney has every right to make a profit. Going to...

    One Day-One Park ticket $71!!!

To start I completely agree with you, but I have... ...three hypotheses on Disney pricing. First, in general, they price tickets high enough to prevent the parks from becoming teenage hangouts. As a father of four young children I stay away from Six Flags parks, for example, because of the...

    The Swan and Dolphin's Fate

Found a better link... ...right on Tishman's own site regarding their role in Epcot Center's development.

    The Swan and Dolphin's Fate

You might be surprised to find out that Tishman... ...was the primary contractor for Epcot Center. I was surprised to find out they also built Madison Square Garden, The World Trade Center, and the John Hancock Building.

    The Swan and Dolphin's Fate

Well at least I was there and lived it which makes me... Remember that Building a Dream is a Disney authorized and sanctioned volume on Disney architecture. Of course it's going to paint Disney in a positive light considering Disney probably had final draft approval. My mistake - Terramark...

    The Swan and Dolphin's Fate

Well that's the key point... ...that as far as I know everything is true. But one thing I have realized is that there is always more than one version of a story so I wouldn't be surprised if some of the details were skewed. The lawsuit and results have been published in at least two books...

    The Swan and Dolphin's Fate

Going back to my CRO days when they opened... ...we were told alot of things. We were told that the hotels were the result of a lawsuit. Disney had promised Terramark (sp?) the chance to build a Holiday Inn and a Sheraton in the Disney Village. Then Steinberg, Pickens, etc greemailed...

When was the last time a US President visited WDW?

I used to work with a former secret service agent... whom I would pepper with questions on a daily basis. Many she couldn't answer directly but would walk me through the thought process to figure out the why. I asked her about this after we had a horrible accident in Flint, MI when they...

    Location of a fifth park

What I had been told by a WDI Engineer back... in 1990 when they were either announcing or preparing to announce the Disney Decade was there were eight gated attraction sites. One was on the Epcot monorail line just north of Epcot. Putting a park here enables Disney to take advantage of the...

Disney faced with lawsuit in Mission: Space death

I am sure the family is motivated... ...by the desire to keep this from happening to others. They need somebody to be responsible and they feel no obligation for not knowing about their son's issue. You don't know what you don't know. They have every right to lash out to deal with their...

    Deluxe resort losing a star?

A little 5-star history for those interested... ...in the Grand Floridian. As has been pointed out none of the Disney resorts are 5-star properties. The one shot Disney took at 5-star rating was with with the Grand Floridian in 1990 while I was working at CRO. To attain 5-star rating (I...

Union asks Disney to increase worker pay

You are correct. I did try to simplify. I assume very few people on this board work in the financial industry so I try make things palatable - not to insult but to educate. However I disagree on your final point of the ripple effect of increasing wages. Yes it is a concern. However...

Union asks Disney to increase worker pay

How do you measure value? I measure it by stock price or dividend. Disney's stock price hasn't changed since 2000. Yes ESPN is a great part of the acquisition but remember that ABC Family is also part of it. Disney's adjusted stock value in 1990 was $18. For the ABC acquisition to "pay...

Union asks Disney to increase worker pay

I too have a similar story... ...which included working for Walt Disney World at $6.35/hr in central reservations in 1990. I have made the point in the past that people cannot overvalue unskilled labor as it will always be at the mercy of gains in efficiency and the power of the employer...

Union asks Disney to increase worker pay

Let's do a little math... ...to see if this is a mountain or a mole hill. In 1990 the starting wage at the theme parks was $5.35/hr ($6.35 in CRO). Starting wage is now $6.90/hr for an increase of $1.55 in 16 years. That comes to a compound annual increase of 1.6%. The same $5.35...
