Is the MCO Security Line Usually That Bad?

It's no excuse, the staff should be ready to expedite all passengers. I admit that families are nowhere as organized about getting through security as business travelers, but there should be staff to help and expedite the travelers as they begin to fill the bins. For example, at Newark, there...

Everyone's Best and Worst Dining Experiences?

From my recent trip: Best: Coral Reef-My steak was done perfectly, both entree and dessert portions were perfect. My daughter had the vegan "chicken" and veggies and absolutely adored it. The server was attentive without trying to expedite us through the meal. Worst: Cinderella's: I know...

Is the MCO Security Line Usually That Bad?

As a point of reference, recently at Salt Lake City, I went from the curb to the gate in 15 minutes. Newark was 30 minutes, I always write off Laguardia, but heading to Disney, we were through in a little over 30 minutes. At Orlando, people on line told me it was partly due to the business...

Is the MCO Security Line Usually That Bad?

Came back from WDW President's week, and really the only negative was the utter disaster at the MCO security line Friday evening. DME dropped me and the kids off at 3:30 for a 6pm flight, luggage already checked and boarding passes in hand. From there it was 30 minutes just to get to the ID...

    Driving or flying????

This came up on another thread, a friend goes 2x a year, and to save costs he drives his whole crew overnight from Long Island. He usually leaves at 9-10 at night, getting at WDW about 2pm the next day. That lets the kids sleep through most of the trip, and he and his wife split the driving...

    How do you budget?

I have a friend who goes 2x a year and buys annual passes. Between the savings on tix, and AP rates on lodging, he's able to handle the non-travel part of the trip only marginally above booking a single trip. He usually drives straight through from Long Island to cut his travel costs.

Coral Reef Marinated Grilled Vegetables and Vegetarian Chick’n Breast

I couldn't find this in the recipe thread, but on our last visit, my vegetarian daughter absolutely loved the Coral Reef's Marinated Grilled Vegetables and Vegetarian Chick’n Breast. Would anyone have a recipe that can approximate it?

    President's Week Lessons

A week after returning from WDW, I learned a few things that I will do differently next time: Make sure to book a CBR room closer to Port Royale. All in all, favorable impressions of the CBR. My room in Aruba opened out to the lake, and was the second bus stop coming back from the parks...

    MCO Customs

Last week we landed from NYC at 5pm, and didn't get to the CBR until 6:30. It took about 15 minutes to get from the gate to DME, once scanning the magic bands, we waited in a queue for about 15 minutes. Once we were assigned a bus, we were waiting about 20 minutes for it to fill, and another...

Is the Unoffical Guide to Disney book worth it?

Most libraries should have the 2016 or 2015 edition

Tell me good things about 4th of July week....

I've been to Disney over 25 times, and after going July 4th week several times as a kid, I promised never to subject my family to the heat and crowds. If you can take the heat, I'd suggest end of August, as at least many kids are back in school.

    Rental Car of Disney Buses

Just came back, and with a couple of exceptions the buses worked perfectly well. The exceptions: We stayed at the CBR, which was packed the whole week. Coming back from the parks was a mess, especially if a double bus didn't pull up. One morning we waiting nearly 40 minutes for a DHS bus...

    It's time

It actually was -19 when we left, which was fun when we were lugging parkas and sweatshirts through the CBR later that day

    Trip Report President's Week

Disney Trip February 14-19, 2016 Arrival: Ordered a car service at 8:30 am to LaGuardia for an 11:15 flight. No issues with the drive, and surprisingly no issues getting to the gate. I ponied up the extra $ for priority boarding on Southwest to get a seat that would get me and the kids off...

    Character Dining and Memory Maker

At the Crystal Palace, there were no Disney photographers. At Chef Mickey's, there was a photographer for when you pose with the Mickey statue before dining, but none for characters. For the record, I had a very positive experience with the Memory Maker. The photographers took enough pictures...

    Spending money

Actually the logic is backwards. If one has $250 to spend, one has $250 to spend. The prices of the meals are all published, without hard limits it's very easy to go overboard on shopping and snacks. For our trip beginning Sunday we're on the DDP, so we have to pay out of pocket for a few...

Disney does know how to set the mood...

My trip begins Sunday, and it's now been three days where my mailbox has had something from Disney to get me ready. First the check in guide, then the February park maps, then a guide to the Visa in-park benefits for Feb.

Auto Train thoughts and a stay at the Contemporary - Garden wing vs. Tower

I crunched the numbers for the Auto Train driving from Long Island to VA, and it simply did not make sense vs. flying. Most of the aggravation in the drive to Disney is getting to Virginia, and the fare (not even for the bunks) was not competitive enough vs. flying.

    Favorite non-park thing to do

Going to the Contemporary-It amazed me as a kid 30 years ago and still does it for me.
