I have a friend who goes 2x a year and buys annual passes. Between the savings on tix, and AP rates on lodging, he's able to handle the non-travel part of the trip only marginally above booking a single trip. He usually drives straight through from Long Island to cut his travel costs.

I've been to Disney over 25 times, and after going July 4th week several times as a kid, I promised never to subject my family to the heat and crowds. If you can take the heat, I'd suggest end of August, as at least many kids are back in school.

My trip begins Sunday, and it's now been three days where my mailbox has had something from Disney to get me ready. First the check in guide, then the February park maps, then a guide to the Visa in-park benefits for Feb.

I crunched the numbers for the Auto Train driving from Long Island to VA, and it simply did not make sense vs. flying. Most of the aggravation in the drive to Disney is getting to Virginia, and the fare (not even for the bunks) was not competitive enough vs. flying.

Going to the Contemporary-It amazed me as a kid 30 years ago and still does it for me.
