Trip Report SLIDE PHOTOS FROM 10/01/1971 NOW PREPARED & READY TO POST

Dear LibTree76, Thanks for the info on the group of CM from the early years. I would enjoy that but I don’t want to intrude on a special group such as that or just “drop in” unannounced so to speak. Becky has a Face Book account but I don’t. She said it is easy to do. We were contacted to...

Trip Report RETRO TR: WDW August 1974 Words & Pics

This is pretty bad!!! A wonderful time was had by all. We now venture home to Ohio. One of the things I have found with a vacation by auto is that one has an opportunity to reminisce about the recent events and make plans for future adventures. A plane ride home always seems to leave me...

Trip Report RETRO TR: WDW August 1974 Words & Pics

Pirates was so cool. It was a new one for all three of us. No flash photo but at least the outside is really neat. Our second Disney parade: A forerunner to the Electrical Parade.

Trip Report RETRO TR: WDW August 1974 Words & Pics

We hung out at Daytona Beach for a few more days swimming, sunning (all of us got a big dose of too much sun and some burning was the result) and relaxing. On Thursday we checked out of our hotel and headed to the MK with no plans other than trying to get a night at a room closer to WDW. Our...

Trip Report RETRO TR: WDW August 1974 Words & Pics

We had had a long day in the hot sun and decided to catch monorail out of the park and head back to Daytona Beach. We also decided we were going to come back to WDW one more time on this trip prior to heading back to Ohio. We wanted to enjoy some nighttime Disney.

Trip Report RETRO TR: WDW August 1974 Words & Pics

We went to The Mickey Mouse Review and since no flash photos I attempted a few shots that were just short of OK. Since the Review is no more I thought I would post just out of the idea of things once removed. We headed to Tomorrow Land and hit Eastern Airlines If You Had...

Trip Report RETRO TR: WDW August 1974 Words & Pics

Becky made notes on some wait times for attractions: Tropical Serenade 20 minutes, Jungle Cruise 40 minutes, 20K Leagues 45 minutes and dinner in the Castle about 1 hour wait. The dinner in the castle with dessert was $17.

Trip Report RETRO TR: WDW August 1974 Words & Pics

The Fla sun was getting hot as the afternoon progressed. Becky and Janet were prepared for the heat. A brief stop to get more comfy and on to 20K Leagues; some of the 20K pictures are in pretty bad shape but since it is no longer an attraction I will post the best ones.

Trip Report RETRO TR: WDW August 1974 Words & Pics

After the parade we wandered the World and rode a few attractions. The Tiki Birds was a treat for Janet. I took a terrible indoor picture with NO flash. I included showing my intent to follow the rules is good but picture is not.

Trip Report RETRO TR: WDW August 1974 Words & Pics

We all wandered around the Kingdom for a while. Becky and I were reliving some memories and Janet was making new ones while we enjoyed watching her as she took it all in. Experiencing WDW with someone for their first time is a most unique adventure beyond description but it is always a...

Trip Report RETRO TR: WDW August 1974 Words & Pics

After spending time as beach bums in Daytona Beach, Tuesday was our long awaited return trip to WDW. Janet didn’t want to seem excited but it was difficult for all of us to suppress our anxiety. According to Becky’s journal notes we slept thru our wakeup call and didn’t leave for the World...

Trip Report RETRO TR: WDW August 1974 Words & Pics

After our visit to WDW on opening day in 1971 Becky and I vowed to return ASAP. We couldn’t make it in 1972 because I had a commitment with a band I was in to play for a national convention in New Orleans. A free trip to the Big Easy was hard to pass up and Becky got to go along at a reduced...

Trip Report SLIDE PHOTOS FROM 10/01/1971 NOW PREPARED & READY TO POST

Hi jme, I noticed the picture of the frogs when I was cleaning them up. It was a little blurred but I went ahead and used it because I was kind of sure that some of the frogs were animatronic and croaking. Is that possible? I also read somewhere that the frogs were an item at one point but...

Trip Report SLIDE PHOTOS FROM 10/01/1971 NOW PREPARED & READY TO POST

Hi LibTree76 I really liked your response. A former CM with a link to history makes the project seem worthwhile and enjoyable for me. I don’t know that I figured out anything photographically. I just found it natural to take pictures of things I know I would like to look at some time later. I...

Trip Report SLIDE PHOTOS FROM 10/01/1971 NOW PREPARED & READY TO POST

You provide a nice suggestion but the bigger scope of things is that I am nowhere close to finished. I have concentrated on the Disney first but just for the 1971 time frame I have a lot of additional photos from the Space Center, Daytona Beach and the Smokey Mountains. My plan is to save on...

Dear disney4life2008, Congrats on your PHD. That is an accomplishment worthy of shout out. As with other responses I am pleased to be able to share with everyone who apparently has enjoyed the photos. From the moment we entered the main entrance, rode the shiny new trams and boarded the...

Thank you for the kind remarks. I must admit that as I look at the photos it still seems rather incredible to me as well. We had not had these pictures out for viewing for quite some time. The ability to post and share these mementos was the stimulus I guess I needed to proceed with the...

Several people have mentioned the relaxed atmosphere that was apparent in the Kingdom that day. I would venture a guess that after the media hype prior to opening and actually entering the park the vision of the castle and lack of multitudes had a tranquil effect. I know that is how we felt...

That is really funny. You admit to owning these items but I posted pics of myself in said attire. There is a lot of absolution acquired in four decades. I actually purchased that shirt in Lahaina on the Island of Maui. The hat was picked up at a shop in the MK that day.:geek:
