News Reflections of Earth confirmed to be replaced by Harmonious

We saw Harmonious on Wednesday and I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting to hate this show after reading some of this thread, but I thought it was good. If they have to add Disney music then this is a good way to do it. I really liked the musical variations and pieces before and after...

News UP! A Great Bird Adventure Getting A Rewrite

I finally saw "Feathered Friends in Flight" and loved it. We were huge fans of the original "Flights of Wonder" with Guano Joe and probably saw that a hundred times. Then came the UP version in 2018 and that was so bad. We missed Guano Joe and couldn't stand the stupid characters interrupting...

News Disney KiteTails coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom October 1

I saw the show yesterday and liked it. It was only the Lion King kites and it was short, but I thought it was cute. After each segment the kites 'crash' into the empty seating area, but that is supposed to happen. The person on the back of the jet ski unclips the lines and then there are cast...

    Disney's Investor Day 2020 (December 10th, 2020)

Unbelievable. Just reading that Netflix spent $17 billion on content in 2020 and expects to spend $26 billion per year by 2028. (source) Geez ... we're going to have a lot to watch in the coming years.

News Disney’s DuckTales World Showcase Adventure Announced for Play Disney Parks Mobile App at Epcot

Perhaps DuckTales is cancelled because of the upcoming Darkwing Duck series? That will have some of the same characters.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Leaving it up to each individual business is never going to work. I think that something like this needs to be enforced at the state or national level.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Florida reported a new record of 3,822 new COVID-19 cases today: https://www.heraldtribune.com/news/20200619/another-new-record-3822-new-covid-19-cases-in-florida-on-friday Italy had 6,600 cases on its worst day on 21 March before cases started going down. That was almost 2 weeks after the...

Iger and Chapek Livid With Lucasfilm

Maybe they want reshoots on Season 2 of The Mandalorian, which can't happen now and would delay the planned release date? Disney+ needs new content, especially now that everyone is at home. Netflix just reported 16 million new sign-ups due to lockdowns.

If that is true then there are still a lot of cold inside places with air conditioning where the virus could spread more freely. Unless they turn off all the air conditioning. 😅

The flattening of new cases per day may also be caused by testing limits. If they're only able to test 10,000 per day and ~ 10% are positive you won't get more than 1,000 new cases per day on the graph.

This video is a little gross, but it illustrates nicely how droplets spread through sneezing, coughing and talking and how micro-droplets can hang around in stagnant air:

    April trips canceled by Disney?

It is so sad to see that so many people distrust the media, experts and government to such an extent. Do the media and government officials get it wrong sometimes? Yes, of course. You shouldn't blindly believe everything you hear. But for so many Americans to have such a deep mistrust of these...

    April trips canceled by Disney?

Some people seem incapable of extrapolating data and understanding exponential growth. We're just at the beginning of this and it can get a lot worse. If a state has "only 1500" cases it's well on its way to getting overwhelmed unless drastic social distancing measures are taken. Italy had "only...

Each state is going through its own thing. The University of Washington has put together these projections for each state: http://covid19.healthdata.org/projections You can see that they estimate New York will have its peak mid-April, but Florida not until early May and Virginia not until mid-May.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Exactly. Without herd immunity or a vaccine and 99% of the population still susceptible, you can't just lift social distancing in the summer and go back to normal. You have to go slowly. It was just one person in China who started all this. Look at graphs of previous flu pandemics and there is...

What's Still On and What's Now Off

$350,000 seems extremely low. Even if all 80,000 cast members make just minimum wage, that alone would be 80,000 x $8.46 x 8 hours = $5.4 million per day. I'm concerned that this crisis will go on for a long time. China has been in lockdown for 2 months and they did a very good job keeping it...
