News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

My thought too - Gran Destino seemed very specifically designed to appeal to the convention segment. Swan Reserve also should, but through a Bonvoy lens.

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

I'm sure the interior will be solid and the rooms will impress. I'm sure people will enjoy new dining options (Poly could use something upscale) and amenities. To be fair, all of the new towers have done a good job offering modern, comfortable interiors. But part of the allure of the Seven Seas...

Bob Chapek's response to Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' bill

Sexual orientation is likely a combination of genetic information, prenatal conditions, and external factors. Those external factors are not being exposed to gay people or learning they exist. Rather, I suspect conditions like a rocky relationship with one/both parental figures can contribute...

Bob Chapek's response to Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' bill

Ridiculing a student for reading the Bible sounds totally wrong. It would be just as wrong mocking someone for prepping for their bar mitzvah, or reading the Quran, or practicing a Shinto ritual. That said, the Bible's principles can't be applied in public school as fact because not everyone...

Bob Chapek's response to Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' bill

If that's the case, time to ban any discussion of parents, family, and traditional marriage, because it's all controversial and triggering to someone. Children of LGBTQ+ relationships would be hurt that their family unit gets dismissed entirely and can't be acknowledged as acceptable. Also, a...

Bob Chapek's response to Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' bill

"Neutrally acknowledge the existence of" ≠ "celebrate" "Bible says it's wrong, hence it can't be spoken about" ≠ "allow others to practice their beliefs freely"

Bob Chapek's response to Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' bill

I don't follow the Bible, and the First Amendment forbids all levels of government from either advancing or inhibiting religion. Advancing this belief above all others inhibits my right to practice my beliefs. It's not constitutional, and no state can override that.

Bob Chapek's response to Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' bill

You know it's still dark times for LGBTQ+ people when "the gay lifestyle" comes up unironically. This. I have family friends in the Orlando area, previously a lesbian couple. One of them transitioned FTM, but they're still together and love each other. They also have two sons...

Bob Chapek's response to Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' bill

It’s simple probability that there are millions of kids attending Florida schools who may identify as LGBTQ+. Reducing any conversation in the classroom to a heteronormative worldview will absolutely be harmful to them. Self-acceptance is hard enough when you’re the different one in school. It...

    The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

Fortunately I kept my cool with Guest Relations (one of their apps was acting up just as mine was; they’re in the same boat), but it was really a comedy of tech-induced errors, most of which shouldn’t be happening with such regularity in 2022. It just might be the biggest flaw of the CA parks...

Bob Chapek's response to Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' bill

Sure, but that doesn’t make it right. Nor does it justify harming millions of Floridian kids (and many of the adults in their community).

Bob Chapek's response to Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' bill

LGBT+ people existing shouldn't be a political bias, yet I see toxic posts every day dismissing at least one of the letters. This law gives those deniers carte blanche to go after teachers for acknowledging the mere existence of something (or someone) they don't like. That's messed up, even...

    The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

Wanted to follow up on my return visit to the parks on Friday evening. While my morning was pretty seamless, the evening...not so much. The parking lot was a zoo when I made it back around 6 pm - also I got stuck in the only lane with one attendant (the others all had two). Had bought Genie+...

    The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

Not 100% positive, but I didn’t notice either of these myself. What I did notice (could be a consequence of the digital switch) was the color saturation looking different than I remember. Particularly during the Napa balloon scene, the sky seemed a bit over-saturated. Still a great experience...

    The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

Didn’t see a thread for it, so commenting here - made it onto today’s first Soarin’ Over California flight. I hadn’t caught any of its other returns, so it felt great to experience it again! The ride opened earlier than everything else in the park, so was able to hit up Mission Breakout for...

News Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser coming to Walt Disney World 2021

Agreed, jealousy isn't it. Earlier this month, when I saw the lights on in Polynesian's King Kamehameha Suite and a family dining inside before the fireworks, I was a little jealous. That's a bucket list experience for sure. I also feel a little jealous strolling past Yacht & Beach Club...

    Worst mistake in Epcot history

I know this is an Epcot thread, but had to emphasize this point as well. Can totally understand removing the Backlot Tour eventually, but the Magic of Disney Animation didn't need live animators sketching to have an interesting purpose. Given the changes animation has seen since then, that...

News Remy's Ratatouille Adventure coming to Epcot

While I can't say Rat is a favorite of mine, I do agree that it's a solid and fitting addition to Epcot. It certainly lands better when the ride is playing a supporting role vs. the headliner status it gets by default in Paris. Another nice byproduct of Rat’s positive reception is that it...

News Reflections of Earth confirmed to be replaced by Harmonious

To be fair, many of us who've seen the show in person have acknowledged the different reaction among in-park guests. Here are my thoughts from 9/30:
