Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

You never start construction on a project until the designs are finalized. That's just construction 101. If that's truly how they operate, then no wonder everything takes so long, and no wonder Disney has an animatronic that can't be turned on because it'll tear the entire structure apart. 🤦‍♂️

I'm afraid your math simply isn't mathing. That ain't 6 years, even if you DO include the pause in construction (which you shouldn't.)

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

The length of an attraction's or park's construction definitely isn't meaningless, especially with regards to delays. By that point everyone knows something is coming, it can potentially affect other areas of the park, and it's just not something we want to sit around and wait forever to finish...

But we're strictly talking about construction, not the rest of the design phase. Generally speaking, none of us has any idea how long each attraction's design phase is anyway. We do know Tron was a clone and still took forever, so that doesn't bode well either way. Another thing that should be...

    Kong - skipping outside portion

Another experience completely ruined by penny pinching. Might as well just replace it at this point. Oh right, that would cost money. When do they remove the 3D from Hollywood's tram tour? Or do they have more competent park management out there?

What does that have to do with the park's construction timeline?

The park wasn't even announced until 2019, so nice try, but no cigar. It also didn't even go vertical until construction resumed. Were it not for Covid, it would have already opened last year.

The park stopped construction during Covid, but okay. It still takes Disney that long to build a single ride.

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

I think if Disney still used the attraction ticket system internally, it wouldn't be arbitrary, because we'd know exactly what they consider each ride to be. The fact that we don't, and end up subjectively arguing about which category each attraction falls into, tells me they don't really use it...

That must have cost a pretty penny. Did they buy the land?

Ghost Busters has the juice right now

I feel like people are suggesting a retheme of MIB only because it's a shooting ride and they'd want Ghostbusters to also be a shooting ride, which seems like a lazy justification. MIB is still popular. Yes, people go to that side of the park. What else are you going to do, swim across the...

    Kong - skipping outside portion

"Universal's investments since VelociCoaster have been unimpressive. Since then, Disney has opened two rides that started construction before VelociCoaster."

Most would disagree with you on Bourne being bad. And this is basically the only place I see people ragging on Villaincon. I'll give you F&F, but Creative was forced into that one.

    Kong - skipping outside portion

Probably not enough space for the one in Beijing. More likely scenario, if allowed, is they continue to ignore it and let the whole thing become an embarrassment until it eventually closes, replacement TBD at a later date.
