News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

If it were as wholly irrelevant as you claim, they wouldn't be going to extreme lengths to hide the Cars attractions from the rest of Frontierland. You can certainly make the argument that "frontier" is a much broader term than people are allowing for, and you can even suggest that it's okay to...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

The issue is that certain things can coexist without clear anachronism to a modern viewer whereas others cannot. Transportation is one of those things that frequently cannot. Most people have an innate sense that, say, chariots generally didn’t coexist with Conestoga wagons, or that horse-drawn...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I honestly don’t know what the original argument was. I was just correcting the time period of Big Thunder. Frontierland has always had a bit of a smattering, with Tom Sawyer in the 1840s, Big Thunder in the 1890s, Splash somewhere in Reconstruction (~1860-1900), and Country Bears possibly...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

The trains are not “discovered”. They were built as part of the mining operation in the 1850s and began sometimes mysteriously operating autonomously soon thereafter. The miners apparently ignored this to the extent that they could, but the flood that destroyed the town drove everyone out...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

The mine opens in the 1850s, and eerie things begin happening immediately after construction. This includes trains running on their own. This is not when guests visit. Guests visit later after the eerie occurrences and disasters worsen, culminating in a flood that destroys the adjacent town...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Yes, the 1850s are when eerie things began to happen, a result of the miners desecrating the mountain. A natural disaster later follows (flood at WDW’s version), and the town is subsequently abandoned. Still later, it is reopened for exploration. I think it’s usually said that the ride takes...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

As always, 85-90% of the examples people can dredge up lately to justify concerns are related to a historically troubled time for the entire world that happened to overlap with EPCOT's renovation. The remaining 10-15% are related to the few cuts of supporting facilities (shopping, dining)...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I mean, even in dire times, they have never done rockwork and horticulture poorly. It doesn't seem like a productive use of one's energies to become immediately anxious about imagined terrible outcomes when there's really no precedent with the type of work proposed here.

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

IMO, potentially seeing Cars from Big Thunder is the major thematic sightline issue in either scenario. With either plan, you won't see them from the main areas of Frontierland or Liberty Square. The change is about whether the backdrop is cascadian wilderness or a Mississippi basin river.

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Of course it's possible that things will change. They usually do in one way or another, though EPCOT is an especially unusual outlier due to numerous extenuating circumstances. We haven't even seen renderings detailed enough to know exactly what they intend to do along the current riverfront...

News New Villains Show Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Summer 2025

The building envelope isn't actually that small. It's pretty comparable to the other theaters at HS.

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Water features (streams, waterfalls, geysers) are kinetic elements that will exist outside the tree and rock barrier. I don't think they were talking about the cars. Also, there would be sightline and thematic issues regardless of where it was situated as long as it was Big Thunder-adjacent.

News New Villains Show Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Summer 2025

I'm not sure what the actual capacity is, but I'd estimate from eyeballing it that each of the existing three sections of seating can hold ~75-100 people, so maybe ~225-300? That would put it somewhere around half the total capacity of MuppetVision. However, I imagine the entire thing will be...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

It’s for sure a ton of real estate for something they’ve now done better elsewhere on property, but it also still inexplicably always has a massively backed up queue. 🤷🏻‍♂️

What do you mean by rebuilt? It’s not getting leveled or anything, but the interior will certainly be reconfigured.

    Price hike coming 10/9

I mean, driving is an option, staying at value resorts is an option, staying off property is an option, and waiting for discounts is an option. I don't think I've gone recently sans some sort of discount. Even if I book early, one tends to appear pre-trip, allowing me to just call and apply it...

News New Villains Show Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Summer 2025

Dr. Strange is vaguely horror-adjacent in some ways. Doing a RNRC replacement styled as Dr. Strange: Mirrorverse of Madness or whatever with a lot of space-folding mirror dimension projections could be a good way to make decent use of the existing layout while taking into account the limited...

News New Villains Show Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Summer 2025

Because Disney gonna Disney? They frequently remain fuzzy on the dates until things are very close to opening, and considering they often go with astronomical seasons instead of meteorological ones, it could easily open as late as December.

News New Villains Show Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Summer 2025

The Mermaid show just had new media put out during D23, and its fall opening date was reiterated. Mermaid is still happening, and Villains was in development long before the current silence about the location of Monsters regardless. It is not meant as a “trade” for Mermaid.
