After being absent for over a year because of technical difficulties, the iconic howling dog sound effect has returned to the WDW Haunted Mansion's queue. However, it only plays at night now. You can hear it around the family plot.

The definition of "spectral" is "of or like a ghost." So they could just be talking about Constance, and they weren't using "spectral" as a title (the word is lower-cased). They were just using the word to describe her appearance. Still, I would love to have a new bride.

I agree that it was cheesy. The Escher Staircase is a much more impressive scene. Tokyo, on the other hand, does have some pretty nice spiders. Unlike MK's, Tokyo's spiders are always maintained, well lit, and they don't shake. They appear to be tiny AAs with moving legs.

The point is that there are changes that didn't need to happen, changes that are inferior to the original effects. I'd take an animatronic hitchhiking ghost in the mirror over a low-quality CGI ghost anyday. The original effect made me wonder "How do they do that?" unlike the new effect where...

Actually, Florida's pop-up ghosts are also in sync with the music. Tokyo's, on the other hand, are random.

they add a scare factor to the mansion though, and the song they sing is all about shrieking and being creepy. They screamed until the 80s. There's a reason why Grim Grinning Ghosts is subtitled "the screaming song."

They recently repaired the candelabra. Its movement is faster now.

The Mansion's windows do have shadows that move every few minutes. Also I think some updrades to the AAs could happen. They recently repaired and repainted the headless knight and la-la singer. They look as good as new!

They turned down the volume of the howling dog effect in 2011 when the new queue was added, but from what I've heard it is broken and has yet to he fixed.

It certainly is more menacing in Florida. Unlike California's where it's being played directly from a harpsichord, Florida's is a recording that plays out of the air and it seems to have a bit of a supernatural echo to it.

It is, and those things are almost always things that were pointless changes such as what happened to Florida's Portrait Corridor and Corridor of Doors. This also goes for the 2007 attic.

Yup. It was originally planned for Florida, but guests didn't want it according to surveys, so Tokyo got it instead.
