Disneyland attendance stagnated for decades. After a brief uptick for the 30th it took an infusion of IP that Disney didn't own at the time for attendance to rise. Prove EE is a better ROI than anything Iger has approved. What do the financials say?

Hmmm I wonder why they are so well known. I'm sure Universal Parks and Resorts doubling their attendance in a decade had nothing to do with a certain boy wizard. Please explain how Disney IP has nothing to do with their high attendance numbers. That it doesn't influence anyone into choosing...

The reason Disney and Universal have such higher attendance numbers in relation to the competition is the IP associated with their companies. Without it, the numbers would fall much closer to the rest of the pack. Tony Baxter has said as much as he pushed to get Star Wars into the park as...

Never said or implied as such. Edit to add: Just because someone doesn't experience or think about think about theme parks the same way as you do, doesn't mean they don't like them.

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge Disneyland opening reports/reviews

I wish it would have gone in DCA. Carsland, Star Wars, and Marvel would make it pretty intriguing park.

That's hardly the only off the shelf ride that Disney re-skins with characters. In fact there are very few that can't be found elsewhere. There are a few things that separate Disney parks from others. Beloved IP is one of them. I'm not sure why that is so hard to admit.

Not for everyone. I know for a fact (as I know several personally) who choose Disneyland over other places because it has Star Wars, Frozen etc. No other reason.

It is. However, it does not pull in nearly 20 million people a year at the prices they command solely because Disneyland is Disneyland.

My point is that for many though, the theme park is not the draw. It's the connection to the characters and the movies. They choose to go to Disneyland over Knott's because Disneyland has the characters they enjoy. In the example I used earlier they chose to go on basic spinner ride solely...

They saw it because it was Pixar, an IP unto itself.

I don't necessarily believe it is the "influencers" as much as it is the regular guest who knows some but a lot about the parks. I recently was at DLR with my cousin and her family. They come once every 5 years or so. They identify things based off of IP. They liked Incredicoaster better...

Disneyland's Rise Of The Resistance - Reviews, Criticism, Deep Thoughts

IMO that SDL sequence looks really good in person. It looks more convincing than if they had AA's with limited movement.

Agreed. I think it would have been better if they had Stormtroopers on both sides of you like the below scene from ROTJ. Surrounded by static figures as if they were at attention staring at you would have been pretty cool.

Angels tell Anaheim they're opting out of their lease on Angel Stadium

Good for Anaheim (even though I'm a Dodger fan.) Seems like a good deal all around. New baseball stadiums are being built all over and so I would doubt Moreno is even considering renovating the old stadium. I never thought that Anaheim has ever really capitalized on what they have. It...

Avengers Campus - Reactions / Reviews

There are so many options for your entertainment dollars, especially in Southern California. This summer shows that guests can be fickle and it doesn't take much for them to go somewhere else. There is a 0% chance Disney is purposely cheapening their product due to criticism. It's bad for...

Disneyland's Rise Of The Resistance - Reviews, Criticism, Deep Thoughts

CNN had a reporter go through the ride. https://www.cnn.com/2019/12/03/tech/star-wars-rise-of-the-resistance-ride/index.html Honestly it is kind of a puff piece. All indications point to the ride being opened well before it is ready in DHS. I believe Disney will get heavy criticized and...

It's 199 feet. Anything over 200 feet requires a blinking light on top to alert aircraft. Obviously that would ruin the illusion of it being a mountain so you won't see Disney cross the 200 foot threshold in the parks. It looks bigger in person in part because Florida is so flat that any...

New 350 room DVC tower coming to Disneyland Hotel

Both are in desperate need of major renovation. IMO the lasting ripple effect of the 4th hotel not going forward is the ability to do a major renovation of PP and DLH without taking room inventory off line. I couldn't help but notice that the design aesthetic of the 4th hotel did not mesh...
