Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

Park is looking fantastic. The one thing I'm having trouble picturing being complete in less than a year is that "round a bout" in the sky between Stella/Terra resorts. Pretty crucial for that to open to prevent massive bottlenecks in the area.

    HHN 2024

They need to remove express entirely from that option. If you visit 3 or more nights, you don't need express unless you only care about doing as many houses as possible (which is the wrong mindset to attend with).

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

Harry Potter's birthday is July 31st, and August is more than likely the target date to give an official opening month at the very least. It'll be perfect timing for UOR since the summer travel season will be over, possibly commercials during the Olympics, and HHN sales will be mostly done...

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

Definitely overconfident, and worried Universal thinks they can get locals/APs to "sucker up" into buying 1-day tickets. However, IOA had a botched marketing campaign paired with the 2000 recession and 9/11 the following year. Epic will have a larger Universal fanbase, social media, and the...

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

Using wait-times as an indicator as to how busy a park is isn't the best choice for a variety of reasons. Weather - Crowds move to indoor attractions, then flood outdoor attractions when they reopen. Artificially increasing waits for those that reopen temporarily. Downtime - It's a serious...

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

While I would have preferred Helios to be placed at the front (kind of like DLP Hotel or MiraCosta), it's not really taking over expansion space. There's the Monsters expansion area, SNW area, Potter expansion area, and the very large expansion area behind Starfall/Ministry that is capable of...

MSEP ending at Disneyland on Sept 1, WDW return in 2023?

I don't think the cost of costumes is preventing them, rather the cost of keeping MK open late enough to run the parade twice (if they plan on running it more than once). It's easy to do both parade & fireworks in the winter, but during the summer you'd have to run the parade at 9 and then...

    What do new lands need?

From a design perspective, indoor areas that can be explored. The parks have more than enough outdoor areas to roam about... it's time to start providing relief from the brutal Florida weather. From a content perspective, high-capacity experiences like a continuous theater or dark rides that...

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

Good to see Disney turn the page from thinking they can just get away with minimal investment spread out over decades, and start to invest more in a faster pace. It's a smart choice to invest in your flagship park and your weakest (attendance wise) in DAK. Hoping that in addition to expansion...

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

The coasters are great... but the trade off are long waits because of horrible operations thanks to poor management... even with low crowds. Ice Breaker is consistently only operating one-train to save on maintenance costs, resulting in ridicously long 5+ minute long intervals between...

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

They have been flying under the radar for how many coasters they've built... but in the same time they've let park operations drop dramatically unfortunately. Also, Ice Breaker track work was completed back in 2020... they just didn't open it until 2022 for strategic reasons.

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

Universal will try to "lock" visits to IOA and USF in addition to Epic Universe in order to not only prevent the current parks to lose attendance, but also extend trip durations. For locals/APs, I'd imagine Universal is going to look at the vacation package & multi-day demand prior to...

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

While not entirely incorrect, Universal had started work on the land before this current version of Epic Universe was greenlit. Back in 2017, Super Nintendo World was still planned for the KidZone area prior to being moved to a newer version of the 4th gate - aka Epic Universe is born. This was...

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

Helios will be a beautiful resort and I think it's fine to have it inside the park. I'm a bit skeptical of having it as the focal point at the back of the park (would have preferred it to be at the front of the park). From Universal blvd it's looking very nice.

Attendance sinking on the West Coast too?

Disney had that same logic back when SWGE opened, believing APs will sucker up and buy 1-day tickets, and ended up resulting in a quiet summer .

MSEP ending at Disneyland on Sept 1, WDW return in 2023?

These are my thoughts for the past few years, but I really do hope (and believe) that October 1st, will be the start of a new age for the Disney parks. One that goes back to delivering success.

News Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster closing for refurbishment in January 2024

About 1.5-2 years ago it got really bad to the point I would skip it. They then fixed the wheels (due to a supply chain issue) and the coaster got back to being very smooth and enjoyable with little to no headbanging. Mind you, I wear glasses, so my ear hitting the side of the restraint was...
