Iger is Ruining WDW, The Disney Company, and needs to go

Lucas gave him clearance by now it seems, and once he passes on… muahahahahahaha.

Iger is Ruining WDW, The Disney Company, and needs to go

All because the cheap and cartoony themes happen to be IP… but there’s also some cheap but realistic themes thrown in too due to that.

Yes. See also how things like removing Submarine Voyage got fixed when Eisner left.

Thoughts on whether Disney will add a 3rd theme park in the US (perhaps Midwest/east coast?)

Another idea for a new park/resort in the U.S. to make it not too similar to ODL/WDW, on top of the things like “IP Portals”… just not explicitly brand it as Disney and target the thing to adults; make it a “Hulu” park; still included in Disney-related packages but delineated from Disney...

Thoughts on whether Disney will add a 3rd theme park in the US (perhaps Midwest/east coast?)

Especially how they’re converting Disney Studios Paris into an IP portals park in Disney Adventure World.

    Worst Move in Parks History

Nothing but I was just bringing up an example of a dreamer remaining at Disney post-Wells.

Thoughts on whether Disney will add a 3rd theme park in the US (perhaps Midwest/east coast?)

The IP portals idea is pretty sound and allows Iger to fully have his way without damaging classics, possibly even opening up an avenue for their return.

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

To this end, I feel like the Josh D’Amaro approach of announcing attractions once everything has been cleared feels much more slimy than just announcing them when they’re blue sky, as it gives the impression there’s no way we can change their minds and no way to tell when they’ll come about and...

Iger is Ruining WDW, The Disney Company, and needs to go

And you mentioned one of the good (or at this point, merely average but surrounded by horrible ones) attractions he added as one of the things at risk of removal. History truly does repeat. I think some of them will be reversed, others will not, just like with Eisner. And yes, again like with...

    Worst Move in Parks History

Yeah, it’s probably the biggest thing they’ve just left empty bar possibly DisneyQuest and Discovery Island.

As a corollary I’m willing to defend the Moana area as at least it tries to be educational.

    Worst Move in Parks History

RoA will blow it out of the water. RoA was an opening day attraction. Now not even opening day stuff is safe, as I thought they would be after 50 years. Perhaps getting rid of the Disneyland Scary Adventures was an early warning sign…

Thoughts on whether Disney will add a 3rd theme park in the US (perhaps Midwest/east coast?)

There is a solution to the problems of “seasonal operation” and “tornadoes and other such hazards”, and it can be found right here: In addition to being indoors, it could become an IP dumpster like how Iger, Chapek, etc. prefer the parks to be, freeing up more space for original...

    Worst Move in Parks History

Lasseter isn’t a dreamer? Are you kidding me? I feel like perhaps it goes as far back as removing Discovery Island.

When did Disney start overpromising and under delivering?

Eisner was also guilty of this, but the post-Lasseter era under Iger takes it to a whole new level. And no, it’s not likely bribing Lasseter back will bring back the spark, given the trailer to his latest movie.

When did Disney start overpromising and under delivering?

I’d argue the parks division is almost as bad as Lucasfilm, and the “main” live action studio might be even worse off at this point, the executives having had absolute and utter control for about a decade now. At least Lucasfilm has Dave Filoni and those people who made Andor… but maybe not for...

Iger is Ruining WDW, The Disney Company, and needs to go

I feel like Iger wants to stay at Disney for the rest of his life at this point. How will that play out?

When did Disney start overpromising and under delivering?

Thank you for clarifying. There’s even more cases of mismanagement aplenty (Muppets, Indiana Jones, Figment, LucasArts, The Owl House, various anime, etc.) going on, plus the (superficial) leftism has urged detractors to want significantly more right-wing people in charge (like Elon Musk or...

When did Disney start overpromising and under delivering?

No. I’m referring to The Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Pooh 2011, Wreck-it Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, and Moana. Their legacy has been tarnished in recent years yes. The live action remakes weren’t a thing until later, and Eisner’s era had an equivalent in the form of the cheapquels.

When did Disney start overpromising and under delivering?

Chapek was the only leader with no redeeming qualities, though Iger’s sins are starting to overshadow his good deeds.
