Similar. The Disney towers are actually quite tall by lift standards. Ski resorts like to keep them as low as possible for wind purposes. The lift at Vail was built by CTEC, an American manufacturer which Doppelmayr later absorbed.

It probably went out of alignment so brittle bars and/or rope position detectors. There are no sensors on the steel tube itself. If a communications line broke, a whole bunch of faults would have appeared.

Ain't gonna happen but as a last resort, the cabin windows could be swapped for screens. I rode this gondola the other day. There used to be a giant water bucket that was choreographed to dump onto the cabins when they entered one of the stations! Disney could add that to the Trinidad clock...

In other news, Doppelmayr just won a nine figure contract to build the upcoming urban gondola system in Mexico City. It will be the third D-Line system in the Americas.
