Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

They can, but it's pretty hard to pull off. There are very few outdoor, exposed track coasters that don't detract from theme. Or in the case of Epic Universe, it's not a themed land, but Starfall Racers is probably going to make Celestial Park a lesser environment.

It doesn't just apply to those -- it applies to stuff like Velocicoaster too. I know it's explained as a coaster at a tourist destination in theme, but it significantly detracts from the Jurassic Park area; it was much better as a themed environment before Velocicoaster existed. I also think...

News Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

I don't think Disney owns the rights to be able to use the character however they want.

The rides are the problem for Nintendo. Hopefully the Donkey Kong ride will be good, but I remember reading that it may be very, very short, like TRON level short, which will not help if true (hopefully that's not true). The Mario Kart attraction is a huge swing and a miss -- it would be...

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

I'm sure EU will be absolutely slammed -- it's the first new major theme park in the US in over 20 years. I'm less convinced it's going to be some kind of massive paradigm shift long-term, or have any kind of significant impact on Disney's business, mainly because I don't think it looks all...

New Enhancements, Dining Options Coming to Disney’s BoardWalk

And they're both relatively cheap (for Disney) places to grab a sandwich/burger. My point was that I don't think there's a big market for people to sit down and have a big pasta dish at lunch (and certainly not for people to sit down and have a $34 ham and brie with $14 french fries at Cake...

New Enhancements, Dining Options Coming to Disney’s BoardWalk

Seems like it would hard to get many people there for lunch -- Cake Bake Shop will have the same issue. If you're at EPCOT, you already have numerous options, so it's unlikely you're going to leave and walk to the Boardwalk to eat, and not many people are both hanging out at their hotel in the...

News Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

Exactly. I have other issues with the Simpsons (mainly that I don't think they will be popular enough to be a theme park draw 10 years from now -- I don't think they even function as a draw for Universal right now), but the biggest is that I don't see how they can make an interesting land out...

You're acting like the existing deluxe hotels don't also have this location perk, except they have it for two parks and CityWalk. There's also no bus or transport required for them. The one hour early admission is a perk. That's definitely a differentiator. That said, it has the same issue as...

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

My point is that it's difficult to imagine why anyone would think Helios was more valuable, because it offers less by just about any measure beyond simple novelty. Of course people will, but it's hard to understand why (assuming they plan to visit all the parks, that is -- it makes sense if...

News Disney plans to reboot Voyage of the Little Mermaid stage show at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Yeah, Disney used to have shops that they didn't expect to turn a profit -- they existed for theme reasons. They had a holistic view. Now every individual location is treated separately, as though they're in a strip mall.

I'm baffled by it too. Jellyrolls is fun and it's also popular, so it makes sense that it stays open, but that dance hall has to be completely empty most of the time.

Except you can walk to two parks from the Royal Pacific etc. -- the Helios location isn't that special unless you only care about visiting EU and not the other two parks (or Volcano Bay, which I forget exists). Novelty is the main thing going for it, but it would be a hard sell for me when the...

I was just thinking if I was going to Universal, why in the world would I stay at Helios over Royal Pacific etc. if it doesn't come with the Express Pass for USF and IoA?

News Disney plans to reboot Voyage of the Little Mermaid stage show at Disney's Hollywood Studios

I'm almost positive they could get people to spend more -- but not necessarily enough to justify the extra costs in production, stocking, etc. Which is probably what you were implying anyways.

    Lightning Lane Premier Pass

I don't think they could make it free for all deluxe resorts; they have too many rooms. They could end up with like 15k people (or more) with free LL access to every ride.

MAGICal DLP News, Rumours & Thoughts

The current sports bar looks extremely dated -- the concept art of the new one is just so incredibly bland, though. It looks very similar to the bar and grill area at a semi-private golf course I played a few years ago.

Yeah, if all things were equal I would do a week in Europe over a week at WDW every time (would not do a cruise) -- the saving grace for Disney in my case is that I can just drive there in a reasonable amount of time, so I don't have to deal with the hassle of time changes, all the time wasted...

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

That would make sense to me -- I was actually wondering if they'd use the same setting for Hogwarts. It would still have the issue of the "wrong" Harry Potter etc. in the attractions, but less of a concern than a completely different setting. I personally wouldn't mind if they made some...
