Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

I’d just like to add here that, at MK, over the last 2 1/2 years, every one of many rides I’ve taken on Little Mermaid (I dislike the ride, but it’s an air-conditioned rest with no wait) has featured Ariel singing “Part of Your World” with her mouth frozen open, unmoving. It’s creepy as heck...

I’m not crazy about Larry—but I think he does have the strongest character design of all the newcomers. Maybe it’s just because he’s the only one without a stupid, vapid grin on his face.

On my recent Magic Kingdom visit, I had a lot of interactions with great CM’s, but the use of the term “Friend” really became weird and annoying. It sounds creepy and cult-like, and there’s really no way for the CM’s to make it work. The more you hear it the more grating it gets. In the wrong...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

For me, the surprising/dismaying part is that here Disney gives me the impression that they put merchandising first, story last. I keep trying to be charitable, and imagine their thinking went along the lines of, “Ok, people loved Splash Mountain’s abundance of musical animals. That’s an...

One thing I forgot to mention is that for this ride-through, everything seemed to be working perfectly, so I experienced TBA at its best… and the lame story just brought everything down. I can’t imagine what this ride would be like with busted animatronics… although that might add some comedy...

Californian-In-Florida reviews TBA: Today I rode Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at MK and… It was an interesting experience. I tried to go in with an open mind, hoping to view it as an average casual guest might, with no knowledge of the flume’s past and determined to give the ride a fair assessment...

So I went to Magic Kingdom today and rode TBA. (More on that soon in the Tiana thread.) Rode Small World, among others. Being of Scottish blood, I just wanted to snap a photo of the ride’s epic, spectacular, no-expense-spared tribute to the land of my ancestors:

Then there’s what happened in Oregon a couple weeks ago… Eeesh. Glad no one was hurt.

Attendance sinking on the West Coast too?

My opinion is that more and more people are reaching the conclusion that a day at a Disney Park—the way they’re currently being run—just isn’t worth the cost. Stinking the places up with greedy upcharges, virtual queues and underwhelming new offerings doesn’t help. Also: Maleficent on a stick.

Personally, I think MMRR never was an E-ticket. I think it’s a one-and-done mediocre ride that substitutes projected cartoons for anything exciting or involving. Maybe others feel the same.

The album, “Music From Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” is available on digital music stores. It’s a fun listen, but predictably (and unfortunately for theme park music fans), it’s aimed at the GP and consists of “Special Spice,” non-soundtrack covers of “When We’re Human,” Down in New Orleans” and...

    All things Universal Studios Hollywood

This beats any dinosaur ride in the U.S. I wouldn’t mind losing River Adventure in FL to get this. A lot of rides beat DAK’s Dinosaur. I’m gonna miss it for its high cheese factor and hilarious finale, but I don’t think a lot of folks are gonna be terribly sad to see it get rethemed.

Can they redo the ride so that Louis sets out to devour all the generic critters and save his IP? The finale would be a huge barbecue.

When I was a teenager, I mocked and sneered at Muzak. Now I have a playlist of easy-listening orchestral pop music from the 60’s and 70’s on my phone. And it’s growing.

No, John Hammond sincerely wanted to give the world something worthwhile. He never thought, “I don’t have enough wristwatches. What if I spend billions to perfect dinosaur resurrection, build a theme park on an island, fool people into coming to the park, let the dinosaurs loose to feast on the...

Glad you enjoyed it. 😃 Now, I haven’t seen it since it was originally released, but…I kinda hate this movie. It has good moments, and you mentioned its rather excellent slow build. Also, it shines a great satirical spotlight on the way many corporate tv ads of the 6O’s and 70’s portrayed “ideal”...

For Universal, always prioritize IoA. 😃 On a HHN day, I’d start early at IoA, take Hogwarts Express to USF, do a leisurely loop to get the good Studios rides done, then head back to IoA before the HHN guests start arriving. I’ve found MNSSH days at MK to be a good time to visit that park if you...

Just from my own observations: October is a nice time to visit, and, while the crowds shouldn’t be too crazy, expect all the parks to be at least moderately crowded. At this point they’re almost never *not* crowded, but October shouldn’t be at the “insanely mobbed” level. 😃 I would hold off on...
