I actually did not know that and is fascinating to learn! I feel like that could make an interesting fairy tale in of itself: A king obsessed with fairytales and the tales of the past. A new ride/show mayhaps? ;)

Actually, the original tale was from Charles Perrault and the Grimm brothers adapted the tale from him. In fact, tales similar to Sleeping Beauty have been documented since the 14th century; possibly earlier through oral traditions. A lot of the documentation is French-based.
