News Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - Historical Construction/Impressions

I'm just speaking from my perspective as a theme park attendee. While many do enjoy meet and greets, I do not. Meet and Greets isn't what made Wizarding World blow up. It was what the characters do in the land. So I don't care if it is Luke or Finn, or old Luke, or Obi-Wan. Or an unnamed...

News Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - Historical Construction/Impressions

And they'd say the same about Fast and the Furious. Doesn't mean that having Dom walk around Fast and the Furious Supercharged's queue will suddenly make the ride good. I love Indiana Jones, but I also don't pretend he's a great fully-developed character. There's a reason they need to put him...

News Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - Historical Construction/Impressions

I think it's a common understanding. The Joseph Campbell roots of the screenplay are well known. The bad Lucas dialogue has been spoken about by every lead actor. It's why a Solo movie doesn't work without Ford. The actors are the draw, not the detailed characters. I teach my students about...

News Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - Historical Construction/Impressions

I think I can survive without ever seeing C-3PO again. Adding him to Star Tours was one of the reasons I cannot stand the new iteration of the ride. Not a big Yoda fan either. I don't watch Star Wars for the characters. The characters are thin archetypes at best. I watch Star Wars for escapism...

News Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - Historical Construction/Impressions

I just laugh when people claim its the timeline that hinders the land. As if seeing a guy walk around as Kylo with Stormtroopers is all that different from seeing a guy dressed as Vader with Stormtroopers. The problem is the land was designed to have a kinetic third attraction which was cut...

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind vs Radiator Springs Racers

RSR seems like the ride they wanted to build. The ride system, show scenes, racing, facade....It all feels purposeful and comes together well. We get thrill, AA's, gags, scenic design. CR is Ghost Galaxy 2.0 with a large CGI monster in space swiping at us on a screen. Its a great coaster...

New Tomorrowland @ Disneyland? Is this the year it finally gets announced? No, and that’s OK

The problem is DCA needs Disney-quality rides. Badly. Right now, they have RSR as a full Disney quality E-ticket and Monsters Inc as a C-level darkride. DCA doesn't fit Avatar at all and normally I would be against it, but man....DCA needs this. And DCA also needs to move away from...

News Coco Boat Ride Coming to Disney California Adventure

I think you have a Blue Bayou-esque small restaurant nestled into the attraction, and just like NOS, the exterior of the show building is small shops. The space currently housing JJ, GZ, and SSS is large enough for a restaurant and queue akin to Cafe Orleans, especially is 2-story for seating...

News Coco Boat Ride Coming to Disney California Adventure

If you're adding and D and an E ticket, the capacity should outweigh GZ and JJ easily, especially as GZ closes in windy conditions. Also, if they move JJ to the helix, its not a loss, it's a relocation. As for kinetics, if the Mexican Restaurant has a balcony section for seating, you have...

News Coco Boat Ride Coming to Disney California Adventure

If they can replace Grizzly Peak with something as serene but better use of space, I'd support that. The fact that imagineers wanted to build the mountain with a hollow interior for additional space for another attraction but got axed for budget should be rectified.

News Coco Boat Ride Coming to Disney California Adventure

I'd love that. Even if they took out Zephyr and SSS as well as some of the lagoon area there for a Mexican restaurant. Blue sky moment. What if the mini land housed two attractions? Boat ride in the red area with courtyard. Keep the gardens. Shops and restaurant and more seating where...

Might even fit better in a coaster helix. With bubbles and seaweed going up around it.

News Coco Boat Ride Coming to Disney California Adventure

RSR, Pal-Around? The good news is that anyone can ride GSS whenever the OC or LA County Fair come to town each year. I will happily lose that entire corner of the park if it means getting some concise themeing to that corner, a visual weenie, and blocking out the poor sightlines. Corndog...

New Tomorrowland @ Disneyland? Is this the year it finally gets announced? No, and that’s OK

Back when malls had more than clothes and aisle kiosks selling cell phone repair and shoe cleaning snake oil. Take me back to the days of toy stores, music stores, magic shops, bookstores, novelty shops.

New Tomorrowland @ Disneyland? Is this the year it finally gets announced? No, and that’s OK

I always found that aesthetic to be so dated and bland growing up. I think TL needs to feel like a community rather than a world's fair or mall. That's why the west side of the park works so well, it feels like we are stepping into worlds whereas TL has always felt like stepping into an...

New Tomorrowland @ Disneyland? Is this the year it finally gets announced? No, and that’s OK

I'd take Cosmic Land with a land of Fantastic Four, Guardians, Star Wars, other intergalactic properties. Maybe they could even retheme Mission BO to the Spider-Man drop tower attraction planned for overseas and restore DCA's skyline a little.

So astroturf, a tree, and a splash pad that opens a year after everything else.

    Tiana’s Bayou Adventure SPOILER Thread

It will likely play a little better given the speed we go through Disneyland's. It was the superior Splash, so it makes sense to be the superior TBA. Which is like being the tallest Munchkin.

News New Haunted Mansion Grounds Expansion, Retail Shop Coming to Disneyland Resort in 2024

More likely some spreadsheet somewhere showed them that they could save $X.00 in watering/landscaping by changing this small parcel of grass to astroturf. Maybe they got a kickback from some water-saving initiative to convert X% of the theme park space to landscaping that doesn't require watering.

News New Haunted Mansion Grounds Expansion, Retail Shop Coming to Disneyland Resort in 2024

At the end of the day, if the rear queue is a vast improvement to the unthemed switchbacks, then it will be a net positive. If its essentially the same, just reconfigured, its a net negative. Given Disney's recent history, I'm expecting another declining by degrees. Disney just hasn't...
